"Had an amazing 5 nights at Tsuruya. A very comfortable room with soft sleep mats, low table and chairs and 2 sitting chairs. We had full board and the meals were exceptional. Very fresh Japanese meals. We loved the outdoor onsen - it was a treat to sit in the hot mineral water while being snowed on. "Great hotel that is right next to the best base area at zao onsen resort! The junior suite was incredible, I really liked the Japanese styling with full western amenities. It was extremely spacious and having two in room ac units for the living room and bedroom was great. "It was very nice property but there only one onset facility except for the foot bath that was not covered and small… and the property only had one lounge area which serviced some rings & snacks but the lounge was too small for the amount of guess. "We stayed here for a week while visiting our daughter who lived nearby. The staff were friendly, and polite. No problem with communication even though I do not speak Japanese. I really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. The view of the mountains from the room can't be beat. I agree with one review that said the toilet in the reception is the best toilet I have been to in Japan, as crazy as that may sound. Highly recommend!"

"Rug was grubby looking, this was the only place where we did not want to walk around barefoot and used slippers in the room. Really didn't like the fabric toilet seat cover. Onsen was small. Checkout at 9 am too early!"

"This is a beautiful old facility. Taxi or bus from train station. An uphill walk from bus station or about $50 taxi. We visitors in January. Icy steps! The staff was great to carry luggage up to room! Chucky was so nice and helpful. Ask to see his photos from his hometown!"

"Excellent service. Free shuttle to and from Tendo station. They also managed to keep and deliver our luggage to station after check out. There is a tax free shop and supermarket within walkable distance. Dinner and breakfast is good and fulfilling. Onsen is relaxing."

"The whole process, from communication before check-in to storing my luggage there after check-out, was very smooth. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious, signage was foreigner-friendly, and there was a great range of amenities and supplies provided. The bed and bathroom were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious. My only wish is for a lobby or public seating area for leisure aside from the hotel room, and perhaps a map and suggestions of things to do in Sendai."
