paradise
We stayed at Villa kuyu with friends, could not have worked out better. We were all thrilled when we arrived by the standard of furnishings, decoration and equipment it was delightful. Woke up to the most amazing view of Kalkan. Breakfast on the terrace by the pool, Bread, jam,Tea, Coffee, milk and butter had been provided for us, so no panic for shopping. The pool area is large and well equiped with umbrellas and very comfy beds and small tables, also extra seating by the bbq. which is shaded. Then there is the garden with lovely shrubs and a well, which we were told Kuyu means. There is a small grocers and greengrocers near by 5/6 mins walk, very handy for fresh bread in the mornings, also useful if you forget anything in the town, fruit and veg are of good quality. Walked down to Kalkan, took us about 15/20 mins, if you do this in the evening, it was dark when we were there, a torch is useful as the first track down is unmade, walked back once, we are not that fit, didn't do it again, but no need as the taxis are plentiful and cheap, about £5. and the Yali supermarket will take your shopping back to the villa for free. The Butcher on the left hand side, just before the roundabout is very helpful and speaks perfect English, he will make up BBQ packs for you and his chickens are good value and very tasty. We cooked afew times and found everything we needed to hand, this villa has had alot of thought gone in to it and nothing has been left out. If you are not cooking then there are more restaurants in Kalkan than anywhere I have ever been, we loved the roof terrace ones down in the old town, never had a bad meal, I don't eat meat but always had plenty of choice, fish, fresh that day and vegetable dishes, pity its not the same at home. The owners take great pride in serving you and will always recommend dishes and bring tasty treats for you to nibble while you choose. We took the ferry across the bay, no beach but comfy beds on terraces and good food. We were going to do more but could not tear ourselves away from lounging by the pool and wandering round Kalkan, you are not hassled in the shops, and fake leather bags are very high quality. Have run out of space, could go on and on, but, if you are looking for paradise go to Villa Kuyu in Kalkan, but not when I want to go. Thank you Lesley and Julian for sharing your holiday home with us and all the infomation you gave us, it was invaluable. I have no qualms about recommending this to anyone. Enjoy.
