"This hotel is fantastic. The facilities are amazing - great bar/restaurant, breakfast top notch, friendly staff, on site gym and spa (had massages on two consecutive days because it was so good!), pool… love the decor and the atmosphere because it’s so green and verdant… feels like an indoor jungle. The whole hotel feels like a spa. Somehow bug-free despite being full of plants. We splashed out on a suite (still very affordable) and it was worth every penny. Having a bath was so nice and the view of Merapi/the city was awesome. Hotel has a great location, easy to get picked up by a Grab within a few minutes every time we tried and even walked back from the city centre once. Can’t fault it at all. 10/10."

"Online pictures not accurately show what rooms are really like. Room was very dirty with remains of clothes from previous occupants bathroom was not clean. Terrible musty smell and the same when provided other room and bed sheets and comforter dirty and stained "

"So that we're on the same page here, Yogyakarta sucks. You can't walk anywhere, not even really one block from the hotel. The air is dirty from the millions of scooters and there's not much to do outside of the two big temples far out of town. Given that as the baseline, the Gaia Cosmo is a decent hotel. Our room was nice and quiet and the lobby is nice. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They do serve this stomach-churning gross Asian breakfast buffet that smells so strong. I would stay here again, but I'm never going to Java another time in my life."
