Gorgeously situated only 50 feet from the sandy beach in Kapa'a, this recently remodeled oceanfront condo at Pono Kai Resort offers the quintessential Hawaiian experience. Wake up and fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the surf, and spend your days swimming in the ocean and lounging on golden sand.

Ideally situated within a short drive of Lihue Airport on the ocean shore of Kapa'a, this condo is an easy walk from the town's shops, eateries, and oceanfront path that runs for miles along the coast. On the resort grounds, you'll also have access to a pool, a hot tub, tennis courts, a grilling area, and a gym.

This condo enjoys an oceanfront position on the second floor, allowing you to catch spectacular sunrises over the Pacific Ocean from your private, shaded balcony. The air-conditioned interior features a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining table, and a living room where you can play board games and watch movies in the evenings. Additional features include another TV in the primary bedroom and high-speed WiFi throughout the condo.

THINGS TO KNOW
From October 28th through November 16th 2024, Pono Kai Resort will be undergoing roof renovations. Please be advised of intermittent construction noise throughout business hours while the roofing project is underway.
The resort will begin an extensive pool area enhancement project that will require the closure of the pool and hot tub area for approximately three months. The project is currently scheduled for September, October and November 2025.
This property is managed by Vacasa Vacation Rentals of Hawaii, LLC.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). Pono Kai Resort
This was our second time here; we love the atmosphere of Kapaa. Our first night was a little rough, we got locked out of our room and had to wait for the rep to arrive. Heather (our rep) was phenomenal, attentive to our questions and needs the entire time. We'll be back, for the allure of Hawaii is magical.

Beach Front Beautiful
Unit B is as close to the water as you can get. The balcony overlooks the ocean and the five mile paved pathway. The condo has been upgraded within the last few years and everything is nice. There are useful beach chairs and toys. The two bedrooms, both with ensuite, make it comfortable for two couples.

Just okay
The property is a bit dated. The grounds are kept well. The unit was a little shabby, especially the bathrooms. The bedrooms are large, but the living area is smaller than the pictures make it look. Our biggest issue was that the door code we were given did not work, so upon arriving late at night, we had to call the property manager and get a code to the lockbox to let a key (that was difficult to use)…and there was only one key, so we could never separate from the friends we were traveling with. But the kicker was when I messaged the manager the same night we arrived, I NEVER heard back from them for the remaining four days we were there. Terrible customer service in my opinion. Think I’ll be avoiding Vacasa rentals in the future. Otherwise the island was beautiful and we’ll be coming back to Kauai soon.

Amazing Morning Sunrises
We enjoyed Pona Kai Resort B208 so much. Took my family of 6, including adult children and father to enjoy a week in Kauai to celebrate some big milestones. Our condo was amazing and slept us 6 comfortably. The view from the lanai is breathtaking and the morning sunrises were glorious. We had everything we needed to enjoy the many beautiful beaches including boogie boards, chairs, towels, and even a cooler. We really appreciated not having to go to the store to purchase these items. The condo has been upgraded since the pictures were taken and we were expecting a different sleeping arrangement based on the pictures of the rooms, but it all worked out in the end. We loved Pono Kai and will definitely stay here again!

Great view but light mildew smell
View and lanai is amazing. Upon every entry after being away for 2 or more hours we would return to a mildew smell. Once windows opened or run AC it would clear in 15-20 minutes. Everyone says the island has that issue everywhere but not true. 2 other places we stayed this trip did not have that problem right in the water. Carpet in bedrooms likely the cause of the issue. Great beach Geer. Painful long walk from the parking especially if carrying lots of stuff too.

Great Ocean Views
The property has been recently remodeled and is in good condition. The ocean views are as advertised. The location is withing walking distance to multiple restaurants and stores. The 7 mile oceanfront multiuse path is definitely a plus for daily walks and bike rides. There is a bike rental shop literally next to the condos and it was nice to find out they had the lowest prices as well. The grounds maintenance crew worked daily to keep the entire property looking very nice. The gas grills were clean and easy to use. The only complaints were the hard to open patio door that had a broken glass pane that had been, hopefully, temporarily fixed with duct tape. The biggest complaint by far is the door lock. The ten character code was impossible to enter on one try and often took 5-10 tries before successfully entering the code. The # keys are way too close together and ultra sensitive making it almost impossible to enter all ten #s without accidentally entering the same # twice or hitting an adjacent #. Door lock definitely needs replace. We aren't the only ones who had a problem opening the door lock as it was mentioned numerous times in the visitor log.

Love love love!
What a perfect spot on the beach! This worked great for our family and four! Clean, Close to town end it was within 45 minutes of all of our excursions. Long walks on a secluded beach and perfect for swimming. I would’ve preferred to have a bedroom that was facing the beach but we resolved that problem by bringing a mattress in the living room . We slept with the door open listening to the waves. Book Blue Ocean’s rafting tour and Koloa’s zipline. A woman on the plane told me about an awesome beach called Moloa”a Bay, This is a must!!! This was an awesome island for our 10 year vow renewal. The kids are already begging to go back.

Perfect Paradise
What a magnificent place to stay!! Waking up to the sunrise and ocean right off the balcony each morning what a treat. We were close to Kapa’a shops, food and coffee. The beds were comfy and there were some Beach towels and chairs included. Property includes many activities like grill, hammocks, tennis, pool, ping pong and more Centrally located on the island -would stay here again and again!!

Great location
Loved the location. Easy to drive north or south to get to everything on the island. The resort is really nice. They have a lot games you can check out. The pool and jacuzzi were nice too. They have a koi pond where you can bring quarters and feed the fish. Our granddaughter loved that! The unit itself is nicely located. There were lots of sand toys, chairs ect. The cooler is huge, so that didn't work for us, but at least it is available. I gave it a 4 star because it could use some updating. The couch and chairs are very dirty from use over the years. But they are usable. I know this property was just acquired by Vacasa when we rented it so maybe they will do some updating on the unit. But we very much so enjoyed our stay.

Pono Kai is one of the older resorts on the island. As such, you might find some of it a bit dated. What is not dated is a larger beach front, a complex close to the town of Kapaa and a closer view of the ocean than the newer complexes. B208 is well maintained with a view that is just wonderful. As you sit on the lanai you can watch for the boats coming in and out of the harbor or get up early and start your day with the best view of the sunrise you can imagine.

Perfect condo for our family
This condo faces the ocean and is feet from the beach. It is spacious and very comfortable. It is stocked with sand toys, chairs, towels, sun umbrellas, a pack and play, stroller, etc. The location is perfect. Safeway is down the street, and food trucks and shops up the street within walking distance. There are hammocks through out the complex that make for lovely, lazy Hawaiian afternoons. The grounds of Pono Kai are gorgeous. The Vacasa staff couldn't have been more kind and attentive to us. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
