"A wonderful ryokan stay with exceptional Kaiseki dinner, with dinner served in our room. Kaiseki was mostly made with produce well known in the prefecture, made with a lot of care and was so delicious. Breakfast was buffet style, which was a mix of Japanese and continental - nothing exceptional, but still decent! Especially important to be able to converse in some basic Japanese here, however they do have a few talented young staff (ours was Inoue-san) who are able to converse in decent English during dinner and made our stay especially memorable. My partner is not Japanese speaking, and she insisted she would try her best to speak in English so I wouldn’t need to always translate.The staff were also kind and helpful in general. The onsen in the room was lovely and private enough the despite the ryokan not being far from a road. The massage chair was an added bonus for cold and stiff muscles. Room was clean, spacious and very quaint - will certainly come back! "

"Location - there is a pick up service from jr nakuro onsen station. You need to notify the hotel in advance for the pick up service. Staff- they are very nice. I got off at the wrong jr station. The next train will be an hour later but the hotel staff was already at the station waiting for me. I was very lucky to get some assistance from a local gentleman. He called the hotel and the hotel staff drive to my station and picked me up. I also asked the reception about the transport to naruko valley. The staff helped me check the transport arrangements. I was very lucky to ask the staff coz the google map info was wrong. Room - very spacious. You have all the amenities. The onsen is great. Fining - dinner and breakfast were just great. I was offered a lot of delicious local ingredients. It is a very good valued for money onsen hotel. I will def come back if I go to nakuro onsen again. "

"Lovely hotel. My room was large and had a view of the mountains. The onsen is small but has a nice outdoor pool which was delightful in the rain. Staff don't speak a lot of English but used translators to help. The restaurant is very nice with attention to every detail. I would stay here again."

"The spacious, well equipped home is in a very private location in a quiet neighborhood with a great outdoor space. Bedding was very comfortable and kitchen has everything you need, including a pizza cooker! Our kids enjoyed sleeping in the bunk beds. There are many comfortable places to enjoy in the house with beautiful Mountain View’s. Relaxing in the private onsen after a day of hiking was wonderful. You can walk to the Narukoonsen Gorge Rest House where there are short hikes in the Gorge, which also connect to the Olle Hiking Trail for longer hikes. We loved our time here and plan to stay again!"

"The place was as described. The indoor onsen was small. Didn't go for the outdoor onsen as the timing pretty early from 5.30am-8.15am and have to complete my breakfast by 8.15am. Overall the stay was comfortable."

"I really adored this place, and it was very conveniently located for day trips into Ginzan Onsen. The room was clean and affordable and in exchange for environmentally clean services we were given free beer or chuhai and breakfast vouchers. The hotel also has a nice public bath which worked wonders after a day walking in the cold. And honestly the chains sheep mascot was really cute; this place was just very charming for a place so far out in Japan. I will stay here the next chance I get."
