We really enjoyed our trip to Kandy, and Fonseca is an excellent host! His staff are very friendly and helpful, and he goes above and beyond to make sure you get the most out of your time there.

Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend a night or few in Kandy. The room,the view & the ameneties provided were excellant. The manager is very good host & upgraded our room for no charge as it was available He personally greeted us at breakfast as well.The staff is nice too.

Great hotel and service
This hotel is slightly out of Kandy, 10 minute Tuk Tuk from the station up a hill. This is what makes it so great, it’s quiet and when you have the fabulous breakfast on the patio the view is amazing. Fonseca and his assistant make this place. Small things like a SL mobile to call Fonseca or a really reliable Tuk Tuk when you’re out, one night Fonseca cooked us a curry meal to eat on the veranda and when we spent a couple of days chilling they bought us out a pot of tea and biscuits to eat on our rooms patio. Brilliant place and brilliant service.

We(2 women travelling independently) had a lovely,quiet and relaxing time here. A beautiful setting above the bustle of Kandy but close enough to walk in as we did on several occasions. Fantastic courteous and friendly host for whom nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Quiet hotel set in a nice garden
The hotel is quite difficult to reach due to the narrow and steep roads. However, the hotel is quite pleasant and the manager upgraded us to a larger room the second night.

Sadly, we only stayed one night as we were travelling across from Colombo to the East Coast. We had two rooms, one for the children and one for us. We ended up giving the better and bigger room to the children as they needed the space. They were upstairs and we were next to reception but there was no noise to bother us. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the children and us trotted between rooms in our pyjamas to say Goodnight! Felt very safe despite us being separated. Both rooms were very comfortable. Our host Fonseca was charming and welcoming. We arrived late without notice that we would need food, but a short 15 minute walk down the hill took us to a delightful cafe/restaurant - very basic but cheap and delicious. The hotel is a converted colonial house up on a hill with great views - breakfast was provided and was more than ample. There was a lot of fruit! Plates of different types for us to try and homemade eggs and bread. We had a driver, so I'm uncertain how easy it is to travel to and from the centre of Kandy from the hotel, but there were many tuk tuks available. All in all a very pleasant overnight visit.

Excellent service and best breakfast in 3weeks Gorgeous terraces to sit or eat on. We arrived and my daughter hadn't had lunch. The owner kindly made her toast and eggs at no additional cost We needed some laundry doing and he took it for us and collected it the same day Lovely retreat from kandy city centre which was very busy A great choice and

Beautiful place, excellent staff
We had a wonderful stay here. Our room was spotlessly clean with lots of space for luggage. The hotel is in a beautiful colonial style building with amazing views. It is a short tuk tuk ride into the main part of town - I would say this is a benefit as the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle and feels very peaceful. Breakfast was big and delicious (omelette, fresh fruit and smoothie, toast, roti and curd) served on terrace with lovely views. The highlight of the hotel is the staff that work here. Fonseka and his colleague (who’s name I can’t remember, apologies) took such good care of us. They got up in the early hours to serve us breakfast before we had to take our train. They sorted out tours and an itinerary and booked train tickets for us. Nothing was too much for them and it was their care that made our stay memorable - thank you!

Notting Hill Country House is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to all of the attractions in Kandy, while away from all of the noise. The breakfasts were delicious, the room was clean and comfortable, and the manager and his staff were fantastic! He helped us get last minute seated train tickets to Ella, which we greatly appreciated! (tip: email host before your arrival to ensure tickets and less stress) I 100% recommend staying in Notting Hill Country House for your next stay in Kandy!

Nice guesthouse with good hot water shower and decent wifi, comfortable bed. Located a bit out of town and access to the entrance is a bit steep, but nice surrounding views. Breakfast provided was decent and dining area was at a nice patio area with views.

Peaceful retreat just outside the city
We had a fantastic stay here! The room was beautiful and clean with delicious tea. Tons of fresh fruit, roti, and omelettes for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and they went out of their way to help us with our travel arrangements. Would absolutely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Excellent boutique hotel
With excellent breakfasts and helpful friendly staff, this hotel was definitely a good find! The owner was keen to make sure you had a positive experience, and helped ensure that we didn't miss any of the highlights of Kandy and the surrounding area during our brief stay. His advice was very sound and by arranging a tuk tuk to take us to a working tea plantation, the Botanical Gardens and the war cemetery was definitely a good move and made this excursion very easy and enjoyable for us to do. Although the hotel is a little way out of the town and away from the obvious main roads, getting a tuk tuk to and from it was not difficult or expensive. I would highly recommend it as a place to stay. (Note: It is always worth making sure that you take the telephone number of the hotel along with the address when you go out as not all taxi drivers know where the hotel is.)

New but colonial style large spacious house with modern well fitted bed/bathrooms. Very elegant with views across the valley. Owner very helpful. We'd happily stay there again. Good value especially compared to some other places we stayed in SL.

Amazing views of the Kandy hills
Enjoyed our stay at NottingHill Country House.Old colonial house, shady upstairs verandah, peaceful garden but only 5 minutes away from the lake and 10 from downtown Kandy by tuk tuk. Nothing is too much trouble for Fonseca . He goes the extra mile to help and organised to have train tickets picked up for us. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, the shower is properly hot , the breakfast fruit lavish and the view from the garden and terrace is amazing. It will all be even better when they have made the road . For now it's a bumpy ride and there isn't a sign on/from the main road ( turn up left just before the sign for the Majestic hotel , follow road left and hotel isup a steep drive on the right) but Fonseca promises a roadside sign is coming in 2017. Recommended ,

Grande Maison un peu vieillissante au dessus du lac de Kandy. Le manager est très sympathique et fera en sorte que votre séjour se passe bien. Les chambres sont modestes mais bien équipées, quoique la TV ne fonctionnait pas. Bon wifi et petit déjeuner copieux.

Extensive breakfast and lovely view
Nice hotel up in the hills with a very steep road running to the hotel. Nice relaxed ambiance with jazz music playing each night. Very good rice curry served for dinner and excellent breakfast with a generous spread: fresh fruits, juice, roti, onions, omelette, buffalo curd with palm treacle, toast, marmalades and more! Fun to watch the monkeys in the trees and chat with the owner!
