Hale Ohia Seaside Charmer Near Iconic Big Island Beaches!

This is a solar powered 3 bedroom house in Kawaihae located a scenic 30 minute drive to the north of the Kona Airport. Unlike many Hawaiian rental properties, this home is centrally located near pristine beaches, places to eat and shop, and to area towns and areas of interest. The home offers beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and Kohala Coastline from the back yard. Visitors enjoy the beautiful and ancient terrain of the most desirable side of the Big Island, where the weather is almost always sunny and temperatures normally range between 80 to 68 deg F every day.

The home is located in a historic area, within a short 5 to 10 minute drive of the worlds best beaches at Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach. Buy fresh fish and vegetables in Kawaihae and enjoy grilling your food as the gentle tradewinds blow through the coconut palms and tropical plants on the property. During the winter months, whales make the nearby cove their first destination, and can be seen breaching and surfacing from the beautiful blue waters.

The bedrooms include one California King with memory foam gel topper, one King with new memory foam mattress, and one Queen with memory foam gel topper. There is one bathroom with full tub and shower. The kitchen is fully equipped. Free Wireless internet.

This is the perfect destination to enjoy what the Big Island has to offer, while at the same time avoiding the very expensive rates typical of area hotels.

Great location, well-appointed place. Not for everyone, though: the road literally next to the cabin and the only bathroom for 3 bedrooms might be an issue for other people.

Great Place to Stay on Big Island
The house is lovely and well-kept. The hosts clearly put some love into it. We really appreciated how well-stocked it was with beach and kitchen equipment. The sunsets from the back yard are amazing. The house had more than enough space for my wife, daughter and me. We would definitely stay there again.

A place we love
Our fourth time at Hale Ohia was as nice as our other visits. The house fits us so well. Ken LOVES the massage chair! Had a night or two with an AMAZING sky full of stars (some light clouds the other nights). We had a concern or two, and they were dealt with, as usual. Nicole and Nicolas are great. It would be a turn off for some people, but I find the light back and forth traffic kind of soothing.

Great location, perfect for family
This has become a favorite place for our family to stay when visiting the Big Island. Home is well appointed with plenty of space and amenities. Yard is a huge plus with kids. Just a few minutes to our favorite beaches or Kawaihae food and shopping. Only 10 min to Waimea for groceries, park, farmers market, etc.

Great Vrbo Big island
This is my second time staying here .Its an awesome house with a big yard with a beautiful view! The owners have provided you with everything you need .You can enjoy the cozy feel ,Hawaiian decorations and a massage chair too ! The beach is 5 minutes away ! Property had everything we needed to include coffee maker/filter and French press, oils and spices, lots of cookware. Beach toys for kids, snorkel gear, boogie boards, chairs and beach towels. Beds were comfortable and house was clean. The yard is large and there’s a fence along the back boarder so we felt safe with the kids playing outback while we made dinner. We would love to stay at this home again. Short drive to several nice beaches.

Our best VRBO experience to date!
We had such a great visit on the Big Island, and a huge part of our experience was staying at Hale Ohia! Our hosts were so easy to communicate with and from our welcoming treats at check in to our check out, our stay was simply top notch. The home had everything we needed and more, and while we spent our days adventuring, we loved our quiet mornings and evenings together as a family in the beautiful yard. We are already planning our next visit and will plan it around staying here again!!

Nice experience
On the outside edge of a cluster of several homes, this house was clearly the nicest of all of them. Very well taken care of and decorated for the Hawaiian vacationer, this house is quiet and comfortable yet a close drive to Waimea and beaches. We were very happy with our stay. Thank you to the hosts!

Second visit to this wonderful house. First time was fantastic, this time was even better. Clean, comfortable with lots of convenience, amenities and upgrades from 2 years ago! A Home Away ! Thanksgiving.
In between Waimea and the beaches. This is a home - and so very welcoming. The hosts have thought of everything … games, cooking, cleaning, internet, tv, direct communications, books, towels, clothes line, landscape, decor. All done with personal kindness. Really great little house!
We loved staying at Hale Ohia. Such a good location with great access to all the beaches as well as Upper Kohala, Wimea and the East side coast. We enjoyed the backyard and the view to the ocean in the mornings. The neighborhood was very quiet and parking was easy and had great access to the house to load and unload for beach adventures each day. We loved the kitchen and the eating area as well as the common area living room. So comfortable with the A/C. The geckos on the back patio were also quite charming.
