This gorgeous home is secluded in a 24-hour guarded and gated oceanfront community with keypad entry just a short walk to the classic Hawaiian town of Kailua. Watch the cruise ships from the Kailua-Kona Pier, where you'll have access to Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, and dolphin and whale watching. Visit the famous farmers market. Enjoy shaved ice or a cup of Kona coffee. Dine on a light snack or a gourmet meal, buy an inexpensive souvenir or a piece of fine art, book an activity, go for a swim, or hang out at the beach. The pier is the official starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (held annually in October) and a great place to watch the sunset. You'll love exploring the area and its many significant Hawaiian cultural landmarks. Both the Hulihee Palace and the Mokuaikaua Church are located on Ali'i Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of what is now the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, until his passing in 1819. The Ahu'ena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by the late king and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.

Best Family Vacation

Absolutely Perfect!
This house was absolutely perfect. We had the best time with our family and friends. I was looking for a house on the beach where we could feel the breeze and listen to the waves crashing on the shore and it didn't disappoint. The beautiful house is situated on the best part of Keiki Beach with nothing short of a phenomenal view. It was very comfortable, clean and tidy. Everything was meticulously labelled and easily to use. The downstairs lanai with pool and hot tub was a favorite hangout for the kids and adults alike although the upstairs lanai was also very lovely. There were tons of pool and beach toys available to use as well as plenty of games and fun dress up outfits the kids loved. You can tell the owners put a lot of effort into making it family friendly. This was a top-notch place to stay, and we would do it again in an instant.

Expansive and family friendly property. Lots of communication and direction. Only issues were 10am check out, some dust on fans (beware the dust allergy sensitive types) and termites, and cushions in need of replacement. Generally, a very good stay. Beach front perfection with crashing waves, and good views. Kona!

Amazing location
The house sits on an amazing small private beach that has a protected reef. The kids enjoyed snorkeling all day and as parents we really didn’t have to worry about waves, etc. The house has plenty of rooms and space for a large family. Also, the house has more the of small niceties such as utensils, spices, plates, etc… than numerous other vacation rentals we have stayed at.

Beautiful Vacation Property
Our stay was amazing! The house lives up to the photos. Our younger children loved in the pool, while the teenagers enjoyed the beach right out front. We enjoyed coffee on the balcony watching the waves crash, fish as well as a sea turtle in the tide pool, humpback wales breaching and cocktails with the sunset at night. There was plenty of space for our family of 11. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful vacation! 🌺

The house worked out perfectly for our family of 8. It is extremely well equipped with everything from beach toys to chairs, umbrellas, etc. the kitchen has everything as well. It’s kinda funny but very helpful that someone went crazy with a label maker identifying everything from dishes in each cabinet to light switches. The only thing I’d say is the decorations and furniture are a bit dated and the house has clearly been a high volume rental showing quite a bit of wear and tear. However, having the beach out your front door and close proximity to town really couldn’t be beat.

Incredible resort
This home was incredible. I would love to come here every year. They have every single thing you could need, from floaties, water shoes, toys for kids (like I'm talking insane numbers of things, including dress up, legos, new sea creature & mermaid stuffed animals, books, etc.). The location was so wonderful that we didn't really need to leave all that much, as the tide pools had a lot for us to see and explore and we were very close to food (~5 minutes for all the best restaurants). The pool had great shade for the little ones so it wasn't your typical situation of having to get the kids out of the sun for a few hours on vacation. I do think the outside patio chairs need a good cleaning or replacing, however, though this is a minor point. A much more major point of sadness is we only had 6 days here. TRUE REMORSE. We will absolutely be back!

This is our second time staying here and we decided this year, we’re coming back every year. The new owners added some really nice personal touches. The kids room was filled with mermaids and flip sequence pillows. My six year old daughter was in heaven. We spent mornings tide looking and sipping coffe on the Landis with George pics and endless views. Walking distance to town and across the street was a huge field and awesome park/playground. We had a one year old with us as well and even though there are stairs, she was safe with the baby gates that were provided. Can’t wait to come back!!!!

Some appliances not working (ice maker, oven, pool lights and spa heater). Several calls to management and one pool light was restored with the spa heater. One thing to understand: there is one gorgeous Master Suite encompassing the entire top floor, and three very small bedrooms in the back on the main floor and basement level. While these bedrooms are nice, if you are traveling with peers, it's not possible assign rooms equitably.

Family getaway
This home did not disappoint. We are a family of 5 and my mother came with. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, high school graduation, 8th grade graduation and celebrating health. Our 3 children joined us, 18,16, and 14. My mother joined us too.The location was wonderful. Snorkeling right out front. A short drive to Kona for shopping and food. 20 minutes to the airport. Costco, Walmart and a new Safeway very close to the house. A few restaurants within walking distance, maybe 10-15 minutes. Plenty of space to stretch out. We spent most nights on the lanai talking. Meals at the big dining table. The pool area was nice, there is a public walkway right next to the house, which I was not aware of. It was fine, just more traffic than expected. There is a wall that helps with privacy. Maybe a little more greenery on that wall would need nice. Plenty of pool toys, especially for small children. The kitchen was stocked! There were starter supplies-water, dish detergent and clothing detergent. Small shampoo and conditioners, but I would bring shampoo/conditioner, and body soap. Small beach out front, usually filled up with other beachgoers. Woke up one morning to a large cruise ship, was there for only about 12 hours, can hear the engine, but we just played music in background. The sound system did not work, which was disappointing. The hammock was broke upon our arrival, but was replaced within a day. Not sure if the pool was cleaned. Amazing house, highly recommend.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Kona Bay Bliss is a beautiful house, richly appointed, and fully stocked. It has a lovely ocean view and direct access to a small beach and swimming area. A terrific house in the wrong location. It is quite warm, low airflow, and the fans do not really cool the rooms. Further, the location is such that there is really no where to walk along the ocean or neighborhood; it is in a gated community just outside of a business industrial section of Kona. There are also, more than your average share of inside insects including mosquitoes and roaches.

Never wanted to leave.
OMG!!! Such an amazing home. Had it been for sale, I would have purchased it and my kids would be coming there to visit me! This home had absolutely EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you could imagine. Only problem we had was, it was so beautiful, nobody wanted to leave it to go explore! We traveled a long way from West Virginia to stay in the pool! We did go whale watching…shouldn’t have…we saw so many more just watching from the lanai! So many wonderful memories made there. My 4 year old granddaughter cried when we left and asks daily when we are going back to “our” Hawaii house. That’s how much it felt like home to us. We tried for fun to think of something they didn’t have there for their guests…the only thing we could come up with was parkas for our trip up Mauna Kea! This company could give lessons on how to set up a rental home…I can’t imagine anyone doing it better. So grateful for our time spent there.

Dream Location
We spent a week in Mermaid Cove and leaving was so hard! The views out every back window/door are just jaw dropping. The waves sound like they’re in the house, and the sliding doors that open the living room up to the lanai make it seem as if you’re on the beach at all times. Being able to walk out the back door and take a few steps to reach the beach and Keiki Ponds absolutely MADE our vacation. Easily the best place to stay in Kona! Pros: *LOCATION!!!! The protected cove out back is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, even boogie boarding. We saw a sea turtle, many fish, and a moray eel. *Well equipped kitchen *Air conditioning in the bedrooms and relaxation spaces (unnecessary in the living room and kitchen with the breeze off the ocean) *Pool is private and the rental has tons of pool and beach gear available *Close to town but felt very private and protected due to it being in a gated community *Fun spaces and plenty of toys and such for young children (not part of our group but would have been awesome with little ones) Cons: *No powder room/guest bathroom which made it a bit challenging while hanging out on main floor; all bathrooms are only accessible through the associated bedrooms *On high tide days (we had several during our trip), the sea water/beach sand floods the entire backyard, rendering the patio and pool completely unusable (although management had someone out the next day to clean out the sand from the pool) *Master bathroom shower has an unfrosted window with no covering that looks directly into the neighbor’s house and pool area This house was the ideal setting for our family vacation and we could not have been happier with the proximity to the ocean. Our son even proposed to his girlfriend just a ways down the beach! We already miss going to sleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the lava rocks and waking up to the incredible view. Wonderful memories we will always treasure!

Thankfully, the bedrooms were air conditioned with the exception of one room and that air conditioner was waiting for a part. With that said, the view was spectacular! The tide pool made a perfect place to swim and hangout on gorgeously soft sand. The interior of the house was whimsically decorated with a mermaid theme. If you have kids....this is a perfect place to stay! They had costumes for kids, swimming wraps for adults, every floatation device including wet socks for the ocean. My husband and boys loved sitting on the veranda facing the ocean. We all enjoyed making meals and sitting down together for dinner or breakfast. The washer and dryer was really quite nice and clean, no musty smell. They did have a couple of unavoidable incidents to the house. One incident was a swell came and I guess washed sand and 4 inches of water into the bottom part of the patio/swimming area and the bottom guest room. Although the room and bathroom were very clean, it still strongly smelled musty enough that no one wanted to sleep there. The small library type room also had a strong smell to it but we didn't use that room. The other incident was the air conditioner was not working in one of the main floor bedrooms. They did come to fix it later in the week as our trip was coming to an end. My biggest surprise was that no notification was given to us that the repair people would be there and would have full access to the house. I happened to come back to the house by myself and found the repairman in the house. He was very nice but it put him also at a disadvantage. I called Nick, the manager, and he was also unaware the repairman would be there. This happened twice as the pool cleaners also came without our knowledge. It is a gated community with surveillance cameras for after hours however, the beach is still a public beach. Some days we left the big sliding glass doors open and other days we closed them. They have a great baseball field and soccer field behind the community. It was a nice and homey feeling; not touristy at all. Overall, we truly had the best time in this gorgeous house. Some minor issues could easily be resolved. My husband definitely said he would like to come back in the future.
