This apartment is centrally located, newly renovated, and pet-friendly--perfect for the traveling professional. Situated in the heart of "the valley," it's located in a quaint neighborhood nestled between the mountains. Staying here will give you the true local feel of Juneau. Grocery stores, restaurants, a library, a swimming pool, and trails are all located within a 2 mile radius. The Glacier is 10 mins away! Supervised pets are welcome in the backyard (used by main house and family dog).
The space:
The 320 sq ft apartment was professionally constructed in 2022, and is attached to our family home. The private entrance is on the side of the house, and there is a glass door to the backyard for easy pet access. While the backyard belongs to the main house, you are more than welcome to use it. We just ask that you please keep an eye on any pets as there may be other people, pets, or even transient wild animals (bears) back there.
The bedroom comfortably sleeps two on a queen bed, plus a little extra room on a sleeper sofa in the living area. There is a desk in the bedroom that could function as a work space. Next to the kitchenette, there is also a 2-seater bar top for dining. The fully stocked kitchenette features a smooth-top 2 burner range, a sink with a cutting board insert to increase counter space, an apartment sized fridge, a convection microwave oven with baking functions, and an air-fryer/toaster oven. A coffee maker is also provided. The TV has Roku with plenty of free streaming channels.
The apartment does share a wall and adjoining fire-door with the main house. Rest assured the apartment is completely private; the fire-door is treated as any other exterior door, and is kept locked at all times with deadbolts and security latches on both sides. We will never enter your space without your permission.
Laundry:
There is no washer/dryer, however a small portable washer is available for the unit upon request (suitable for washing a couple outfits at a time, between trips to the laundromat). There is space to hang-dry clothes as needed in the bathroom. The nearest laundromat is about 2 miles away.
Green Features:
The apartment is fully electric, powered 100%* by hydroelectric energy produced just for Juneau. Recycling and food scrap collection is included. The scraps collected will be composted to nourish our family food garden. Products furnishing the apartment were specially chosen to reduce plastic use and waste, selecting for durability and long term safety. Even the plumbing is traditional copper instead of plastic PEX. An outdoor 3-prong outlet is available for slow EV home charging.
Transportation: We also rent cars through our family business, The Green Alaskan. Please let us know if you need a vehicle during your stay, and we can send along information on what we have available.
