"We booked to stay at Haus Saarland am Rennsteig. On arriving at the hotel we found it was closed and a notice telling us to go to another hotel, Hotel Thuringenschanze which was about 0.5km away. Since we had arrived by public transport we had to walk there with our luggage. On checking in at the new hotel we were not offered Oberhof guest cards. This meant that we were unable to obtain the guest card discount when we visited the nearby SkiHalle. We asked to stay an extra night. We paid...

"Our family quite enjoyed our stay here. Our room was very clean and well-appointed and we enjoyed the comfortable common area with a kitchen and tables for eating and game playing. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating and live onsight so are generally very available. The location was perfect for us because we could easily walk into town for restaurants, shopping or playing in the snow. "We spent Xmas and New Years at the cabin. We had a wonderful time. This is an ideal place to completely unwind and relax. The forest is 2 minutes away. We were lucky we had snow, and we took winter walks in the forest. The cabin is cozy and had lots lots of character. Thre are fantastic views of the forest from the upstairs balcony. The balcony was also ideal to see in all the New Year's Eve fireworks. Udo and his family were very welcoming. Thank you we had a fantastic time at the cabin."
