First -- when you get to what seems to be the right address, look for the green door and push inwards (ignore the handle that looks like you should pull it open). This is essentially a rooming house in the religious Geula neighborhood, with basic and very comfortable amenities and touches of artistic flair in all of the public rooms.
I loved my stay. The staff were tremendously friendly and accommodating, the beds comfortable and the furniture was homey albeit lived-in. Shower water pressure was great, and even on the ground floor the outside noise was muted. One night they held a string quartet concert with philharmonic members.
Highly recommended for a great value stay for unfussy guests. If you prefer a generic pricey midtown hotel experience, probably seek elsewhere. But if you want to stay in a place that has character, great access to public transportation, and caring staff, choose Tsefaniya. But keep Google Maps handy on your phone to get around!
