Well, I wasn't going to leave a review because an illness kept me from traveling. I knew I booked a refundable fee but messaged the hotel anyway to let them know I was home sick. I received a message from the hotel saying they were sorry I was sick but confirmed it was cancelled. Today, I received a message from the GM saying they were delighted I stayed and asked about my experience. This is poor communication in my opinion. I'm already upset that I booked two days before thinking I could make the trip so rolled the dice on the non-refundable room, so it's just a reminder to me that I'm out the money (and not feeling well on top of that). Just a missed opportunity on their part to wish me well rather than thinking I stayed because they already had my money.
