Minimmalist suite in a spectacular building
We have rented 7 rooms at the Bay View Grande, and there are no bad ones really,as it is an outstanding facility.Owner's pride, and commitment to the satisfaction of guests, is what separates the very good from the merely adequate.Unfortunately this one is the latter. The beds are like concrete with sheets on them .The kitchen utensils are beneath Walmart quality. The suite is starkly decorated, and bathroom mirrors have inadequate lighting. My wife and I prefer our bedroom to be very cool at night ,so our daughter were a little chilled in theirs .No problem, just ask for extra blankets right ?Nope, got an argument from the owner, but eventually ONE was delivered.Next,2 facecloths for 4 people in a 2 Bath/2 Br suite. We asked for more ,and received 2 more-not exactly generous but fine. The next day the maid came and we were left with 2 ,so we asked for more.Again,an argument "I brought you 2 yesterday".I explained that the maid obviously replaced the 4 with 2 .We then received 2 threadbare facecloths that would surely have been rejected by Goodwill.
We had another week ,in a different suite, with an overlapping day,so did not need our final night in this room.We did NOT request a refund ! Nonetheless,we were actually pressured as to "when we would be checking out".(YES,even though it was a FULLY Paid day !! ).So,now I have to leave the pool to meet the owner, so that I can check out at 2:30 (again 20 hours PRIOR to our real checkout). The owner does a towel count and finds we are short a few.I said "hey,we are here another week ,we will check around the pool ,and in our other family rented units,we have each other's texts, and can sort it out over the next few days".NOPE,EVERYTHING with these folks is an argument !I told Marlon (the owners son) that my daughters were flying home, and I needed to go see them off in the lobby. He continued to argue ,so I whipped out the cash and paid for the missing towels (which incidentally were the most faded of all of the red beach towels around the pool).I then rushed downstairs to say goodbye to my girls, but I was 5 minutes late.No big deal ?? Maybe, but it IS in my family.
For me,the "Golden Rule" is treat others as you would like to be treated ".
Epic FAIL for these owners.
