As a family of 4, we paid for the biggest room in the Chez Bore Hotel, the Presidential Suite, months in advance. AS WE WERE WAITING FOR OUR FLIGHT to Istanbul, I was messaged on WhatsApp by the owner about repairs happening in the Presidential Suite that WOULDN'T ALLOW US to stay in the room. The last-minute change was frustrating, but he offered to give us a room in a nearby apartment or cancel the reservation altogether. We didn't know where to find another room on such short notice, so we chose the apartment, which was described as being equivalent to the Presidential Suite.
We were housed in an apartment that didn't even come close to the descriptions of Chez Bore. There was no room service, laundry, or housekeeping; windows wouldn't lock, and there were splinters in the furniture and random holes in the wall. The floors were not clean. We only received an iron one night. We showered with hand soaps because there was no other option. The owner of Chez Bore told us we could eat the breakfast at Chez Bore, but the next morning, we were told there was no such thing by hotel staff (fortunately, our apartment offered a complimentary breakfast). After the first day, he did not check up on us.
Essentially, we paid for Chez Bore's services, and we did not receive the equivalent. Having to deal with the MANY issues that came with being relocated into an apartment was irritating. I leave this review to hopefully reprieve other travelers of dealing with such circumstances.
