This gated community is located right on the ocean beach, offering an on-site swimming pool to cool you off after a day spent in the sun. Rent bikes from the local shop and explore the paths around Wild Dunes, or take a short drive into downtown Isle of Palms (four miles west) to find additional dining and shopping. The Grand Pavilion is also a mile down the road, where you can dine and shop. Or, take a day trip into historic Charleston (17 miles west) to immerse yourself in the city's rich culture and dine at some of the best restaurants in the country.

Wonderful long weekend

Loved the location in this gated community. We felt safe and it was quiet. Close to the beach and we could leave our stuff to come back to the condo for lunch or a break from the sun.

Nice condo
Condo was clean and comfortable. Great location, convenient to the beach. Check-in went smoothly. Couple of minor defects (loose doorknob on bathroom door, doorknob missing on closet door), nothing too bad. Only significant issue was the elevator in the building was out of service for half the week we were there. Not the fault of the condo owner, but it seemed that whoever manages the building was inattentive to the problem. It still wasn't working when we left. Otherwise we had a fine stay.

Beautiful view from our room & family room of the ocean and sunrise. Condo could use updating, one more bedroom with a bigger bed would have been nice,, and a fridge with a water filter. Overall, everything thing was good, and we had a nice visit with family for Thanksgiving.

Last Minute Amazing Trip
My family and I were supposed to go to Florida and seen a hurricane coming and decided to switch to Charleston a day before leaving. We found this gem and it was perfect! Views of the ocean, short walk to the pool. Have to drive to shops and restaurants but its only 10 min down the road. Beds are a little squeaky and some reviews complained about dated furniture but it served its purpose. Would stay here again

The condo met most of our needs. Good seating, kitchen was adequate and we had a beautiful ocean view. I do suggest that the master bath be remodeled. The over sized shower and the height of the entry was cumbersome and dangerous for seniors. Ceiling height to liw for someone tall. Also it took over most of the bathroom with little space to be comfortable. All in all, we were very comfortable.

Nice area - beaches not crowded - great safe family area. Condo is dated and showing wear - furniture is very worn - master bath shower takes up the whole bathroom (anyone over 5’10” will not be able to use it - built up off floor). Clean and safe - just a bit outdated.

We loved the scenic view from the balcony. We did feel that the condo could use some upgrading. The king size bed was rather uncomfortable and noisy when trying to get in/out of the bed.

Good quality unit
We liked our brief stay at Shipwatch condominium. Unfortunately the elevator malfunctioned and the rental agent for the property helped us out. The pictures of the unit are technically accurate. There is a mirrored wall in the living room which makes the unit look larger than it really is. Our view is that the unit sleeps 6 snuggly. i would be mindful of this.

Improvements: The TV s need to have detailed directions as to how to operate. The many remotes need to be labeled as to which tv. The light and fan in the master did not work even after a gadget was brought. GRAB BARS IN ALL BATHS. THE ONE BAR THAT WAS THERE SLIPPED WHEN GRABBED. We were asked to leave key in the lockbox. We had no lockbox. We left it where we found it - under the mat. It is a lovely condo. Perfect with improvements!

Disgustingly dirty and moldy
Our vacation, the first one in 2 years, was ruined by the extremely dirty and moldy state of this property. The bathrooms looked as if they have not been cleaned in months, if not in years. There was mold everywhere, from the bathrooms to the air conditioning outlets. Towels and sheets had black nasty stains on them. The toilets were disgustingly dirty. Black mold was on all faucets and bathroom fixtures. I can’t believe how they rent this property in that state of unsafe uncleanliness. After a couple of hours of back and forth with an answering service in another state, the manager finally offered a full refund if we left the property immediately, which we did. Imagine trying to find a hotel at 10:30 pm after a long drive and being on the phone for hours to resolve the situation. We’re extremely disappointed, especially with VRBO that’s supposed to be Vacation Rental by OWNER, but after booking the place we were informed that a company named Vacasa is in charge and would send us the check-in information. False advertising. Very bad experience. Do NOT book this property at all.

Best Place to stay at Wild Dunes!!!
Our stay was amazing!!! Furniture has been updated and is not what you see in the photos. We cannot say enough good things about this property. Direct access to the beach and ocean was amazing. Pool was great and we always found chairs/loungers when we went to the pool.
