Here is information so you know what to pack
For us who have never been to Mille Lacs, or even to that area, it was difficult and time consuming to find information needed to know what to pack for this trip. It was helpful to read information from your ring binder inside the cabin, so thank you for that, but it would be great to know ahead of time. For example:
1 This is located at McQuoid's Resort. The VRBO site makes it look like a private residence so I was surprised to see it was part of McQuoids. It is half a house, not a whole house as depicted. There were enough beds for our family of 13 people but it was crowded. There is a large dining table but seats only 8 and same with the one picnic table that seats 6 comfortably. There weren’t enough folding chairs in the closet but I’m sure if we would have asked for more management would have obliged. We used some lawn chairs we brought from home.
2 There is no general store on site, only pop machines, but the nearest town is Isle, population 698, only 1 mile away is easy walking distance on the shoulder of the road to bars, restaurants, etc. Also, a great grocery store, ice cream shop, museum, coffee shop, liquor store, bait shop, etc.,
3 Bring your own lawn chairs for evening campfires, none are provided.
4 Bring your small fishing boat, there are some small rolling docks to use.
5 There is no swimming at this resort, but there is a beautiful sandy beach with a swimming area buoyed off, only a short distance away from the resort. Bring your own tubes for tubing as there are none to rent. The beach is easily accessed by driving your boat from the McQuoid's dock to the beach. It has a big parking lot and picnic area with tables and restrooms.
6 There are no hiking or biking trails at McQuoids, but the local side roads are quiet and picturesque.
7 Your two fenced in goats and pig, and the bouncy house were popular with our group.
I hope this was helpful.
