We are sharing our family cabin in Island Park. Our cabin is 18 miles from the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park, but only a few miles as the crow flies. Island Park is the same ecosystem as Yellowstone. The area is heavily wooded, there are lots of rivers, ponds, and lakes (with blue ribbon fishing), lots of animals (e.g., moose, grizzly and black bears, elk, bald eagles, coyotes, and if you get really lucky you might see a wolf!), and 100's of miles of recreation trails. You can snowmobile or ride your UTV/ATV right from the cabin. Henry's Lake for fishing or recreating is a five-minute drive, and Island Park Reservoir is about 15 minutes. Harriman State Park is only 30 minutes to the south. Big Springs, where you can feed the biggest trout you've ever seen, is only a few miles. The drive to Mesa Falls (~30 miles) might be the most beautiful you haven't yet experienced, and the falls themselves are spectacular and easily accessible to anyone.
We love to cut s'mores in our fire pit, grill tasty meat, and sit on the master balcony and listen to all the sounds at night. We love visiting Yellowstone, but we often choose to ride our side by side (we can usually cover about 100 miles/day without ever traversing the same road). The recreation trails in Island Park are meticulously maintained.
A few highlights:
-18 miles to Yellowstone National Park
-4 miles to the Yellowstone Playhouse
-World class fishing in, literally, every direction
-Private master balcony on the top level and a large wrap around deck on the main level (with outdoor furniture on each)
-Fully equipped kitchen
-BBQ, propane provided
-Fire pit
-TV and Roku
-Fast fiber Internet
-Washer and Dryer
-Dishwasher
The cabin is laid out as follows. The main level has a large family room with a TV and two built-in desks, a dining area with a table large enough to seat 8 adults, the kitchen, and a full bathroom (bathtub and shower). The top level has two bedrooms and a sleeping loft. The master bathroom is in the master bedroom and has a shower (no tub). The master bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a double bed. The sleeping loft has four double beds (two double over double bunk beds). All the bed frames were handmade out of wood harvested from our own property here in Island Park.
Our cabin is a delight, and people have loved staying. We deliberately keep our prices on the lower end of what people charge for comparable properties in the area. We are new to VRBO but long-time super hosts on another listing site.
