When you arrive at the island, someone from Dahlandia comes to walk you through a very nice resort. But then you arrive at Dahlandia and it is the saddest establishment on the island. They let you in through a barbed wire fence past a sign that warns you about a dangerous dog. There was no one there to book any of the snorkeling, mangrove, or phytoplankton tours, and since all of those are on a different island, there isn't anything else to do. We went back to the other hotel where there was a volleyball court, bar, and much nicer beach. The other resort also has a desk to schedule tours. The other resort must have noticed that we were hanging out at theirbar with our Dahlandia wrist bands because there was a man at the barbed wire gate the next day who was interrogating us about where we were going and warning us not to use the other hotel's amenities. When we told him that we would pay extra just to borrow their snorkels, he agreed to let us through but then the dog was out. There is a large, aggressive dog chained to a tree that is exactly the length to prevent you from walking past the owners house without walking into the water to get around him. It felt very dangerous. We started to feel trapped at this hostel where we slept in a shed and had difficulty tracking down someone to give us bottled water. We spoke to the other hotel and asked about the price and we were so upset to learn that the much nicer place had the same rate!
