Enjoy the solitude and peaceful beauty of this private downstairs unit situated on Fumee Lake in Iron Mountain. Use this comfortable space as your home base to enjoy the many wonderful activities in the area.
In summer, enjoy peaceful kayak cruises on Lake Fumee, or go 2 miles away to beautiful all sports Lake Antoine for boating and swimming. Nearby Menominee River and Piers Gorge provide whitewater rafting.
In Winter there is skiing at Pine Mountain and Snowmobiling paths everywhere!
Guests have private entry into their own floor of a gorgeous home. They will also have their own dedicated porch area with gas grill and outdoor furniture. Kayaks are available for use on Lake Fumee as well.

Up North Nature Hike

The location was ideal for what we wanted to do. The house had plenty of space for what we needed. Roger was a great host, unfortunately we had limited WI-FI service and the hot water was hit or miss.

Great location, and relaxing!

We really enjoyed this secluded area of the UP. The space itself is huge, and we were able to bring our dog, which was great. Would highly recommend for anything looking for a getaway with some outdoor activities nearby.

Great stay for Hikers!

Loved that it was close to such a beautiful nature preserve with the lake! Beautiful area right in the backyard! We hiked around Fumee mountain and around both Fumee Lakes and enjoyed our time! Wish we would have brought a bike! We also enjoyed fires every night. Only issue we had was the leaking sink. I texted the owner and he immediately fixed it. Super nice host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Fun getaway

Thought we would be close to the trails for cross country skiing, but could literally gear up and ski to the trail from the back door. Awesome location and view.

Born & raised in Iron Mountain. Home for ski tournaments with friends from IL. Great location close to town. Easy to get around. Clean. Lots of room. Cozy with a view of Fumee Lake. Enjoyed our stay.

It was so peaceful. There are other houses nearby but we didn't hear anything. The trail around the lake is very nice. The living area is huge! All in all we had a great time.

Lovely

This house has a lovely location; the back is surrounded by woods with french doors that offer a great view. My kids saw a variety of wildlife including deer in the backyard. We flew in for a family event and booked the property for a three night stay. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a hassle-free stay in a lovely location.

Nice quiet weekend

The section used for VRBO is spacious, clean and well appointed. It is in very good shape and we had no concerns at all. Roger answered a couple of questions i had quickly and to my satisfaction regarding operating dimmer lights.

Beautiful Property

I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews. The description on one reviews of a "Mother-in-Law Suite" is very accurate. The website does give a first impression that the property is on a lake, which it is not, however there is a lake close by with some very nice hiking trails. It is basically a finished walkout lower level with the owners living upstairs, yet it is surprisingly private and surprisingly large. The kitchen area is fully stocked, but no stove, so be aware of that. The living room is very large with Roku, YouTubeTV, NetFlix and Hulu with great Internet. I would suggest the owners add the Amazon Prime Channel to their selection so those of us who have Amazon Prime can watch movies on the rainy days. The bedrooms are nice and comfortable. I very much enjoyed our stay and will be a return customer for sure.

4 hour Drive For Nothing

Host accepted our reservation but never sent us codes to enter the property. Thought perhaps she had them with instructions at the rental which was a 4 hour drive for us. Unfortunately, that was not the case and since we are not frequent VRBO renters we had little idea what to do. So, we sat at the rental trying to contact the host with no response. Then we contacted VRBO who tried to contact the host, but she was also unresponsive to them. Had to shuffle last minute on a holiday week to find a roof over our heads. A couple of hours later, after we settled in to the hotel we found last minute, guess who responds? The host telling us that she has had issues with the locks and that she would have a neighbor come over and unlock it. Thanks for the stress and headache, but this wasn't a good experience.

LOVE THIS PLACE !!

This was my 3rd time staying at this property. One reviewer described it as a "Mother-in-Law" apartment and that is a great description. It is a fully finished basement with an amazing view. Surprisingly large, very clean, and everything you would need. I stay here when I work in the Iron Mountain area of the U.P. and I book it as often as I can. You will not be disappointed in this property !!

Nice Get Away

Overall the stay was good. The owner of the property was super nice and super helpful. When we booked we thought the house was on the lake but it’s actually about 1/4 mile off the lake. All in all it was perfect for what we needed, a very nice place to stay
