Welcome to Waldingfield, a gentlemen's horse farm built in the 1920s.
On almost 40 acres, this wonderful propsquare feet and sits on 40 acres with a handful of out-buildings.
The grounds back up to the Ipswich River with 40 miles of walking trails in Appleton Farms. Horses, cows & sheep roam close by all year long.
The town of Ipswich is made up of about 14,000 residents and boasts the most first period homes (built between 1640-1725ish) in the country. You can usually spot one by the single, center chimney. Plaques also adorn many of them.
Downtown offers restaurants, bars and shopping & surrounding towns offer lots to do as well. Below are some suggestions but if you'd like an additional list, we are happy to provide.
I would also like to mention that I am a REATOR®️ in the state of Massachusetts.
THE SPACE:
The 'Cottage' is what we believe to be the laundry house for the main house. It is comprised of two living spaces and was built in the late 1700s or early 1800s. At this time, this unit is devoted to Airbnb guests and other travelers. it has 34 windows and two porches which provide an open airy feel.
The pictures in the ad are of the cottage currently. The design style is eclectic vintage w/ a hint of trend. The space is approximately 1000 square feet.
Keep in mind before booking that the apartment is older in the sense that the floors are uneven, a few of the windows need to be restrung (there are 34 total), etc…However, it it spacious and there is plenty of space for 2-4 guests!
When you arrive, you step onto an enclosed windowed porch and into a sizable entry space which opens up to the living room. There is a guest room right off the entry way also, it has it's own full bathroom (tub but no shower). It is a Jack & Jill and can be accessed by the main bedroom if needed.
The living room is quite spacious with a fireplace mantle (decorative) in the middle of the east wall. On either side of the mantle, there is a doorway. One leads to the main bedroom (also has it's own full bath with tub & shower combination). The bathroom in the main bedroom is a Jack & Jill & can be accessed from the dining area.
The main bedroom is also a generous in size, has plenty of windows and an enclosed porch. The windows in this space overlook the country road, the barn & lower paddocks.
The kitchen is a fair size with a dining room right off of it. The dining room has windows too which have great views of the paddocks.
Bed sizes:
Queen - Sleeps 2
Queen - Sleeps 2
All linens/towels will be provided.
Please message me with any questions prior to booking. Thank you.
Once here, please feel free to walk the grounds. Once part of the Appleton family, Waldingfield has only had two owners since the 1640s.
Waldingfield is shared with other guests. Please be considerate of them, their space and the staff.
