This Grade II listed thatched cottage, part of which dates back to the 15th century is set in a quiet country lane surrounded by rolling countryside with views from all aspects of the cottage. It is simply furnished, with a distinct absence of chintz. The beams, brick and wooden floors are beautiful without adornment. There is an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. The property has 2 living rooms, the first one dates from the 15th and 17th centuries. It has a brick floor, beams, wood burner and comfy sofas. The second living room has Freeview TV and views over the garden. There is a hideaway for noisy children, or a place to keep quiet. In the dining room, the 17th century windows are now part of the wall, and the table can extend to seat eight (just). The rooms are not big, but the three bathrooms and four toilets mean that it is ideal for two families, or different generations. Grandparents downstairs are not disturbed by excited children upstairs. This is where Girls Aloud was formed, sent by their record company to get to know each other. Once their taxis had left, they had to bond. In 2021 another band came, knowing that they could rehearse uninterrupted and it would be interesting to see if they match the fame of earlier bands.
The cottage is easy to get to, yet a world away. There are excellent road links to Bury St Edmunds, Diss and Stowmarket, all within ½ hour’s drive. Newmarket for the races, and the cities of Norwich and Cambridge all within easy driving distance as is Thetford Forest. Numerous pretty and famous villages to visit locally such as Lavenham and Long Melford. Needham Market has its own station, but it takes a brave and well-organised soul to come without a car as it is a 40 minute walk to shops. Shops and pubs ¾ mile.
There are low banisters at the property.
Towels are not included.
There are low ceilings, doors and/or beams within the property.
