"We’ve stayed at The Loyal Duke many times in past years and this year. This stay brought a little disappointment as our room wasn’t as clean as before. Upon unloading our car I noticed what appeared to be dog hair all over the floor and on the couch. The floor didn’t appear to have been cleaned. The Duvet cover had a huge rip in the center and the fitted sheet had stains. The baseboards needed a good wipe down and behind the TV and microwave needed to be cleaned. The king bed was pretty broke...

"I enjoyed my stay at the Gateway Inn located in Salida, CO. The room was clean & comfortable, and having access to the hot tub was an unexpected bonus. The front desk attendant was very courteous upon arrival to the hotel and helped to orient me to the town layout for Salida. She also asked a colleague to open the fitness center a little early to accommodate an early departure the next morning. My only complaint is the size of the bathroom - it’s very small, and I’m not a big person. Of course...

"To be clear, it is entirely likely we will stay here again. Please keep that in mind as you read. I'm not sure why this property is rated 8.8. It is a solid 6. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was hard to operate as the temp control did not work. No big deal. My wife had a bit of trouble with a dog allergy as it appears pets are allowed in every room. An open window fixed this. The outside of the property is a bit run down. Hand rails for stairs are too low, missing or coming out...
