This low frills bungalow was the perfect weekend stay in the heights area for a local celebration. Good AC, abundant towels, and functional layout made this a 5 star property for our group of 3 friends.
The house was clean. The furniture, linens and kitchen ware are at minimum standards. Probably ok for a night or two, but inadequate for any longer. The neighborhood is loud; dogs, train, traffic, etc. lots of fireworks on Christmas Eve. Walking our dog was dangerous business as there were so many off leashpets running around.
They work with me very much I need to stay there a couple extra days there was no problem the only thing is there was no hot tub other than that place is very clean and had a very good time
My family and I traveled to Houston for a family vacation. This property was great - easy access to Houston attractions, stores and was clean and quiet. My girls loved playing in the fenced backyard. We would definitely stay here again.
This adorable home was just enough space for me and my family. It was close to the freeway and lots of great local eateries. Neighborhood is transitioning, so there was quite a bit of construction going on a few houses down, but it was not a nuisance. Will definitely stay here again!
The bungalow was perfect for me and my family. Easy to check in and received clear instructions for entering the home. The two bedrooms provided ample space. The house was very clean and had plenty of towels and washcloths. We also traveled with our dog, who loved the fenced in backyard. The location is ideal and allows easy access to the Heights and major freeway.
Yard was perfect for my small dogs. House was exactly as advertised, clean and cozy. The kitchen could use a few more essentials like knives, cutting board, can opener that works, and cookware. Beds were comfy, neighborhood was quiet, hardly even noticed the train that others commented on.
We booked last minute for a trip to the CFP Championship. Place was in a perfect spot for us, the neighborhood is in the midst of redevelopment, with large modern places replacing the more historic properties as is happening in most major cities. Quiet area and about 20 minutes to everything we wanted to do - which is saying something with Houston traffic. The place is older, but has been updated. Perfect for two brothers in their 30s to work and have a home base, and get out to explore the city. Really happy with the place and would stay again.
Having just lost my mother, I needed a place to get away and reconnect with myself. Friends suggested a quick getaway and provided an airline ticket to Houston. I was not up to seeing anyone or wanting to be around numerous individuals. They found and suggested this quaint VRBO.
It was perfect! The cleanliness and design of the unit were as described. The neighborhood was quiet and near grocery stores. It was just what I needed, I will seek this out on a return trip to Houston.
The bungalow was as described except there was no spa/whirlpool (and we did not expect one). All in all a good experience! Good A/C. Nice to have the yard with our pups. Looked to be newly readied for VRBO and having sustained some flooding? Needs more window coverings to block out light from street in front bedroom and windows on side front. Towel bars, nightstand and lamps with bulbs would be great. Something going on under kitchen sink on disposal side? Coffee maker was not cleaned after last use. One neighbor's house looked questionable but both sides neighbor people were very friendly. Thank you!
The property was so tidy and functional. It is an old house, and my mind wandered to how much history that house must have seen—especially with only two bedrooms and one bath. As someone who raised 5 kids, I pictured the pride of the very first owners when they bought that house and filled it with children and how spoiled we are with such extravagant space today.
Anyway, we loved it! The one recommendation I have is to put several HOOKS in each bedroom and in the bathroom for towels. We didn’t know where to put our wet towels since there aren’t any towel bars in the bathroom. One person draped them over the washer/dryer in the kitchen and another over the shower rod and another over a chair.
We were in town for spring break visiting friends, 2 adults, 2 kids. This is an up-and-coming area, mixture of old and new houses. The streets are very narrow which at times made it a tight squeeze for my truck when cars were parked alongside the street. Place is clean and equipped with what you would need. As another reviewer mentioned, blackout curtains are needed, streetlights are bright, so if you need total darkness to sleep, I would bring a sleeping mask. Also would have been nice if there were over the door hooks to hang towels, ect. We did hear the train at night; however, we sleep with a sound machine so it helped some. Overall we felt safe, didn't have any issues.
Three beds were just right for our group. The couch is comfortable and sleepable also. The dogs loved the completely fenced backyard. It was escape proof even for our mini dachshund. There is a new construction occurring across the street and they caused a water leak on the first night we arrived. The city had to shut off water to the whole street for the repair that was done by the following afternoon. The owner was very responsive and helpful through the whole ordeal. It was fine for us who moved at a leisurely pace, but a fair warning for people on business. There is definitely a close train that sounds somewhere between midnight to 2am nightly. 9/10 Would book again!
This is a very charming little house! Perfect for a solo traveler, a couple, or a small family. I loved sitting on the back porch in the morning, listening to the birds. This is a quiet neighborhood. It is transitional, meaning new homes are being built along side old generational homes. As a woman traveling alone, I felt absolutely safe. Neighbors were friendly. Very convenient location. The Heights is right across the freeway. Montrose, the museum district, downtown, EaDo, and the stadium are all just 15 minutes or less from here. The fence is secure, with no gaps or holes a dog could escape through. My dog loved the yard! The bed was so comfortable! That comforter was so soft. The couch, the rugs, all soft and comfortable. I actually wished I'd had more free time to sit on that couch and read or watch a movie. Communication with the host was perfect. I will definitely stay here again when I visit my home town.
Very happy with our stay!! The house is very clean and cute. Great private deck and backyard. Accessible to all major highways and many great dining places. Would definitely book again!
This was a very clean and cozy property. It was near the highway and stores to be able to get what we need for our stay and get around town.
The private yard was really nice to relax. The dogs next door barking at each other made for a bit of a tough night. Not sure if the main bedroom has a queen bed or something smaller. Still was ok, but not as expected.
Left a sweet bread on the counter for breakfast and woke up to an ant party inside the bad. No idea where they came from since the place looked immaculate.
The owner was super responsive in all communications. Thanks a lot for the stay and use of your place.
First the ease of speaking with the owner was great. Super responsive. We showed up about 15 minutes before check-in after driving from dallas with two dogs and the code he sent me had not gone into effect yet. I called to see if we could get in early and he unlocked the house right away for us. Second perfect little house for a weekend stay, for a much better price than a hotel. Neighboorhood is somewhat rough. There are nice houses and then across the street could be a not as nice house but such is the case when staying near downtown Houston. No one bothered us and we were not fearful at all but dont be surprised as you are driving in. The house itself is perfectly fine.
Bungalow was very clean and yard was nice for a pet. Interior and furniture were in good condition. AC & fans good. Kitchen supplies ok but additional plates would be nice. Suggest grab bars in bathroom and hand rails on front porch. Location is convenient near loop 610 but neighborhood could be called "urban pioneer in transition" with old and new houses and narrow streets.
