My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon!! It was amazing. The location close enough to travel to tn for the day. Also, surrounded by many caves and trails. Will be visiting again!

Getaway Weekend
Had a great time at this property on a weekend getaway. The weather caused some havoc but made it an adventure and enjoyed the small town and walking to get breakfast and the small shops.

Weekend getaway
We enjoyed our stay in hot springs! A charming home just a short walk into town and an even shorter walk to the Appalachian trailhead. The jacuzzi was nice after an afternoon of hiking!

Chestnut Log Cabin
We enjoyed staying there so much. The cool Morning air and hot sunrise on the porch made for delightful coffee sipping each morning. The full kitchen was appreciated as we prefer to cook our own fancy meals while traveling. They hot tub was relaxing and private. The seating spaces were abundant. The period decor was like stepping back into a restful reprieve. We read many of the books and could see ourselves playing the games and puzzles too. The nearby trails and convenient town were perfect for easy access.

Great location for hiking
Nice place, spacious & has many amenities, incl hot tub & firepit. Close to downtown and very close to entry to (one of) the entry to Appalachian Trail for hiking. 3 suggestions to make it perfect - 1) better mattress for master bedroom, 2) better internet (might be limited by what's available), 3) provide a keurig/nespresso or basic coffee/tea service.

Charming and homey
We had a great time returning to the Chestnut again this year. Melanie went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable, and the cabin lends itself to wonderful fellowship around the dining table and around the fire pit at night. Can't wait to return next year.

Great Cabin in the Mountains
Amazing place, water for shower goes cold pretty fast but that was expected. Otherwise everything else about it was perfect.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. The cabin is very "quaint"
I can only rate it 4 stars, because of the bathroom. The house is very nice, clean, and the location is excellent. Melanie was a great host & help. The bathroom tile, faucet, etc. needs to be repaired/replaced. We certainly would return.

Birthday weekend
The cabin is very charming with lots of character. Close enough to walk into town which we really enjoyed, the hot tub was wonderful and we also enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch. It's an old cabin with lots of charm and warmth, it eminded me of visiting Grandma's house. You could feel the love that used to live there. Melanie was a wonderful host and easy to communicate with.

perfect mountain hideaway
The property was perfect. The host called us the night before and gave tips on the town. We got in later than expected and there were lights and the heat on for us which was great after a long day of driving. It was a short walk to the town but keep in mind its a small town so things do close down a little earlier. We would book again for sure.

Nice cabin in Hot Springs, NC
The cabin was as described - clean, roomy, nice front porch and yard and everything we needed. . Melanie was available and made us feel very welcomed, even supplying fresh towels half way through the week. Easy 1/2 mile walk to Hot Springs, restaurants, the spa hot springs baths and drive to hiking trails. It is not on a wooded trail but a highway, which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, as we were looking for a more remote location.

Great location!
We were coming into town with side-by-side’s and some places frown upon that. She was very welcoming and even let us know the best places to park local breweries and places to grab coffee in the morning out of five stars. She deserves a 10. Thanks for everything we all said that we would be back!!!!

Perfect AT homebase
We did a guys trip to hike the AT for a few days. This place was perfect. About 50 yards from the entrance, we jumped on and hiked about 15 miles (pretty steep and exhausting section). At night, we walked in to town and listened to live music at Big Pillow. House was perfect for us with a bed, two bunks and a few futons. Outdoors had a fire pit and a hot tub which were great. House had everything you need and perfect location. Manager was really communicative. Would definitely stay again!

HHR
We found the Chestnut Log Cottage a very comfortable and homey place for three adults and two teenagers to stay. We all had enough space but with more togetherness than two or three hotel/motel rooms could provide. The price made it a good value. There was a slight hot water problem that they took care of quickly and will probably be resolved before the next visitors arrive.

Great as always
This was our fifth or sixth time staying at the Chestnut, and it was just as wonderful an experience as always. Melanie is such a thoughtful and helpful person, and she always makes sure the Chestnut’s most charming features stand out right when you arrive. The firepit was a great place for nightly conversations around the fire, and the warm decor in the living room and dining room helped facilitate board games and movies as we moved toward Christmas and the holiday season. Looking forward to our return next year!

Great Host and Very Responsive
Melanie was very responsive to any concerns that we had and addressed any problems quickly. When there some initial issues, Melanie made sure that they were resolved very quickly. There was a power outage for most of the time that we were there, but Melanie cannot be held responsible for the weather/Duke Power. All around, we had a good time, and we would recommend to anyone wishing to stay in Hot Springs.

They don't build them like they use too!
We enjoyed staying in this wonderfully built log cabin. I marveled at the craftsmanship evident in all the details. We couldn't help but wonder about the cabin's beginnings and history. It was a lovely experience. I didn't realize it was situated right on the main road, which made me a little nervous for my 4 year old child who loves to run and play. The towels in the bathroom were all very damp. We didn't contact the owner about it, because we trusted they were clean. We put them out to dry, but it was a little off-putting. I agree with previous reviews about the hot tub, awkwardness of bathroom, and towel quality. But overall, a very fine experience, with a responsive host. I recommend packing a pair of slippers with non-slip bottoms to keep your feet warm while inside, and bring a robe or an extra plush towel for going back and forth between the hot tub and the house. We enjoyed the fire pit, and our lil one loved roasting marshmallows each night. Also, my lil guy had the hardest time saying goodbye to the sweet stuffed bear from the bunk bed. He said, "I love you" to the bear and "we'll be back soon" countless times as we were leaving. And if you want a 4 year old's perspective on the place... He said, "Mommy, this cabin is perfect!"
