Summary:
Close to the water ... only 250 yards to the beach! Your family will enjoy what is believed by many to be the only rental-cabin “lake property” in the Black Hills! This new in 2017 24’ x 48’ (plus loft, basement & garage) custom built lake home, built in 2017, features five bedrooms, with one of the bedrooms being a 12 x 23 loft and two baths. Award winning VRBO on 2.5 acres bordering state park land on two sides! Lots to do and enjoy here in this part of the Black Hills!

The Space:
2.5 Acres bordering Angostura Lake State Park on two sides. The Lake is approximately 1 mile x 6 miles long at the base of the Black Hills.   It is considered by most Black Hills residents to be the number one lake in terms of:   large beaches (including beach volleyball and a new beach grill/restaurant called Inferno), warmest water, new 5-mile bike bath and fun lake recreational opportunities.

Garage is a multipurpose room with toys: a couple kayaks, paddle board, round table for visiting or games, table shuffleboard and just another place to hang out. Lovely living area below large loft, along with an open kitchen and great views of the hills and lake! Large leather couch, large tv, covered deck for grilling with fire pit. While there many lodge options in the Black Hills, now there's a great and new “lake place” option available!

Angostura   -   Trip Advisor (4.5 with 50 Reviews as of this writing):

From Angostura State Park Website:

Angostura Reservoir is a water-lover's haven with breathtaking, scenic views. Offering crystal clear waters, 36 miles of shoreline, and some of the finest sandy beaches in the state, the area boasts many water sports and summer fun activities - camping, boating, fishing, and swimming. Its strong fishery is well known for its walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie, and also supports northern pike, largemouth bass, perch and bluegill.

The word "Angostura" is Spanish for "narrows."  Angostura is one of the few large reservoirs in western South Dakota. The dam was built in 1949 by the Bureau of Reclamation across the Cheyenne River for irrigation purposes. The average depth of this reservoir is 29 feet and the deepest portion of the pool is 75 feet deep when full. The lake's average summer temperature is 66 degrees F.

Nearby Hot Springs is a quaint and lovely small Black Hills town featuring:

Famous Mammoth Site

Cascade Falls \- Our favorite swimming hole in the Black Hills!!     Waterfall Area  Wading area. Clear water!  Moderate jumping of rocks etc.   Great for any age.  Stairs to get down to area.

Moccasin Springs \- Wonderful and timeless spa/hot springs.  People love this place and travel a long ways to enjoy it.  It is said tribes enjoyed these moccasin shaped springs hundreds of years ago.

Hot Springs Golf Course: Considered by many to be the top golf course in the Black Hills. Rated as a top 50 in the nation by Golf Magazine.

River Walks in Hot Springs\- You'll enjoy just walking along the river and checking out the shops, grabbing some ice cream or a movie.

Wooly's Restaurant and Brewery (below): Our favorite! Great food. Great reviews. Near Mammoth Site.

Famous Evan's Plunge Indoor Hot Springs Swimming Pool :  "Healing waters" considered by many due to special mineral content;  Indian tribes enjoyed these waters for centuries it is said;  water refreshes several times per day naturally  (Naturally-Heated)

Historic Sandstone Buildings and Walking Trails; Waterfall(s)

Unique Local Restaurants  - Also Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, Taco John's etc.   Great restaurants on Main St.  Great breakfast.  We are still learning about the local great places to eat.

Short Drive to Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore and Other Black Hills Attractions!!

Getting Around:
Ample parking for guests. The cabin/home is located on the east side side of the lake, with easier and much closer access compared to other sides of the lake.

DIRECTIONS: Take Hwy 79 South past Maverick Junction intersection, where there is a new gas station/Subway/Hwy 79 (Steakhouse/Grill with 17 brews on tap). Keep going straight south and turn right at Angostura Den (bar on your right). This straight-south road is called Angostura Rd. As descending the hill toward the lake, turn right (west) on Shoreview Dr. Shoreview then turns right (north) after a block. Turn left onto Sunny Slope Road. 13391 Sunny Slope is the end of this road on left. .

Quick reference points: The property is the most SW lot in Longs Area, about 250 yards from the water. It is the closest property to Hat Springs Campground. Cabin to Maverick Junction - about 4 Miles. Cabin to Hot Springs - about 10 miles. Cabin to Rapid City - 50 miles.. on Highway 79, which used to be the old Deadwood - Sydney NE Stagecoach Line BTW

Other Things to Note:
The cabin has a custom spiral staircase, granite counter tops, propane fire pit overlooking the lake & park, covered 14' deck, large 65" screen TV, horseshoe pit, 19' cathedral ceilings and comfortable furnishings. Your family will enjoy relaxing and unwinding with the lovely views of the hills and the lake! The property is on a large 2.5 acres site with Angostura State Park bordering on two sides.

The long sandy beaches and waterfront are very close by. You can walk there directly or drive to the various beach/dock areas. Feel free to feel the wind in your hair on the four “beach cruiser” style bikes on the new four-mile beach-front bike path constructed by SD state park system is located near the lake, within site of the cabin. You'll enjoy experiencing the clean air, multiple beaches, views of the lake to the south and the beautiful Black Hills to the west! Walleye fishing is a favorite at this lake!! As is the famous and gorgeous Southern Hills 18 Hole Golf Course, Mammoth Site, Cascade Springs (swimming hole/waterfall) and great restaurants in Hot Springs.

Two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, are on the main floor. The loft area has two sets of bunk beds to sleep four or more people with an additional futon. The two lower bedrooms sleep five, with a queen sized bed in one and bunk beds in the other.

The property is only about a 15 minute drive into Hot Springs which is known for great places like: The Mammoth Site, Evan's Plunge (Naturally heated and non-chlorinated spring-fed pool with slides etc), great shops, walks and Moccasin Springs a world class natural springs spa/yoga retreat and grill.

The property has horseshoes, table shuffleboard, basketball hoop, covered large deck... but most of all great proximity to the lake, beaches and all that stuff!

Family Reunion
Great place to stay for several families! Very clean, laundry, entertainment, & kitchen amenities available to use for our convenience! We used it as our gathering for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Plenty of parking space! A few suggestions for future family stays are better working coffee pot, air vent in basement bathroom didnt work, & needing a hand rail leading to the lower level to hold onto to. The metal landscaping edging for outside was a concern for a tripping hazard along with re-bar sticking straight up out of the ground. The RV parking spot suggestions would be to have a level concete surface along with water hook up next to waste water drain. The drain access needs to be lower for gravity to drain from camper. Overall great place to stay & thank you for the great memories with our family! Beautiful view.

Beautiful Lake House
This house is spectacular. The host was great at responding to any messages once we were checked in and addressed the issues we had immediately, nothing that affected our stay! The house is open and has so much room for hanging out. Plenty of beds, however, not all of them have comforters. We all had a great stay!

Peaceful, quiet getaway
Property has a phenomenal view. It is at the front of the other homes there so you feel alone with no one around. Family enjoyed our time there. Plenty of space for all. It is more remote and you have to drive to Custer, Mt Rushmore, etc but it’s really not that far to anything. No more than an hour.
