Located on the Hamakua coast in the historical village of Paauhau, this quaint cottage offers incredible ocean views, privacy and romance. Built on the edge of a large gulch with expansive views of greenery leading into the blue ocean it takes one's breath away. Large covered lanai (deck) with comfortable seating and an outside grill. Inside you have a full bathroom with generous tiled shower, comfortable kitchenette with full sink and counter, mini fridge, full-sized bed, twin daybed, and large flat screen T.V. Cable and wi-fi is included.

Really nice to be able to spend a few days up here. Great first light & surrounding town. Within 10 miles of some of the best views on Hawaii. I appreciate Kim and Jim’s hospitality.

Dream vacation

Absolutely stunning views of the ocean. The landscape was amazing! Waking up every morning, drinking coffee on the lanai, listening to all kinds of birds and animals. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A screen door into the home would have been nice to keep bugs from flying inside in the evening.

Peaceful, Private, and just outstanding!

If you like to be away from all the tourists and enjoy nature as it should be, this is the perfect cottage. Kim and Jim have an awesome place with a great ocean view, and are the perfect hosts. They overcooked no details, and provided us with an amazing stay. Thank you so much for sharing your slice of paradise with Kelly and me.

Lovely cottage separate from the owners house but on the same lot. Great views of the ocean and sunrise. Well equipped kitchenette for self-catering as there are not many restaurants near by, however there is a grocery store in the next town over. Nice to hear the frogs at night, was very soothlng. Morning will bring sounds of cockerels so if you're a light sleeper bring earplugs. There is a fairly soft double mattress and a say bed, making this a perfect getaway for a couple.

Fantastic quiet getaway

Great place for a quiet, peaceful trip to Hawaii Island. Host was polite, unit was clean and had everything we needed. Plus the lanai and view were amazing. We would stay here again.

Tranquil and quiet cottage on stunning coast

Jim and Kim have a lovely little cottage on the coast! We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed listening to the cows and the frogs on the lanai each night. The landscaping was stunning! As newlyweds, we wished it was a bit more secluded from the main house.

A Little Piece of Paradise

Property is as described. Jim and Kim were the perfect hosts. They had lots of information about things to do on the Big Island. This was a perfect spot to relax and plan all your explorations. Words can't describe how truly peaceful and beautiful this property is.

We thoroughly enjoyed watching in the morning on the porch and cooking meals at sunset. Cozy little cabin feel with all the amemnities. Host was very communicative.

Fantastic base for exploring the island!

Our stay was incredible. The views from the cottage are even better than the pictures. Our host was incredibly welcoming and helpful. We would come back in a heartbeat!

Very Nice Spot

This is a very nice spot, with a serene view to the ocean over a herd of grazing cattle. The cottage is also unique with most everything you need to make meals and relax. The bath is nice as well with a large shower. The day bed (single) is a firm foam mattress and quite comfortable.. Alas, the double bed is worn and most uncomfortable. I'm sure that the owners have scheduled a replacement of the bed and upgrading it to a queen. We would very definitely stay here again.

Perfect base for our adventures!

We explored the areas surrounding Honokaa and enjoyed settling in after our days adventures. Hosts were wonderful, location memorable, and the grounds were beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed experiencing the indoor / outdoor living so much a part of many Hawaiian homes.

Fabulous ocean views! Lanai with the Geckos very entertaining! Replacing full ant traps with fresh on a regular basis would help the ant problem!! Of course bugs are a real thing in the tropics. Very nice little bungalow.

Beautiful place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay here! The lanai was a great spot to watch the sunrise, eat breakfast, and appreciate nature. Jim showed us around and was available if we needed anything. Truly a gorgeous spot with all the things we needed to cook meals and relax! The cows, geckos, and rainbows made it extra special.
