You will not be disappointed with the breathtaking scenery, exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities and the multitude of recreational, historical and cultural activities available in Homer and the surrounding area.
After arriving at the Twin Puffins (located a short 15-minute drive from downtown Homer), you can relax in the cozy cabin accentuated by warm, rich and natural golden hues of native Alaskan spruce.
The Twin Puffins features two comfy bedrooms; the Blue Bedroom has a king size bed with an en suite bathroom that has a standard size tub and shower. The Green Bedroom is available in either two twin or one king size bed configuration. A futon-style sofa in the living room is also available for additional guests. The main bathroom has an over-sized shower and is conveniently located between the bedrooms and the living room. A washer and dryer are in the cabin for your use, so you can pack light (soap is provided). The kitchen is fully equipped, including a refrigerator with a small freezer, a full-size microwave, a stove/oven and a dishwasher. Other amenities include satellite TV, a flat panel TV with surround sound and DVD player in each bedroom. In addition to the TVs in the bedrooms there is a 42' flat screen TV in the living room. The stereo in the living room can also be heard through built in speakers in the ceiling above the deck. A small selection of movies and some board games are available to keep you entertained if the weather keeps you indoors. Wired internet and WiFi are available.
From the living room, French doors open on to a large wooden deck; the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying the view of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Mountains, Grewingk Glacier, as well as a peaceful green pasture with a large pond. Depending on the time of year, you may see beautiful wildflowers such as the brilliant fields of fuchsia-colored fireweed, or pick fresh raspberries along the driveway. Homer is also a Birder's delight. In addition to the migrating shorebirds in the Spring, there are many birds in the area surrounding the cabin, among them are the Golden-crowned Sparrow (the 'oh-dear-me' bird) with it's distinctive call, Bald Eagles and other raptors, and Sandhill Cranes are often seen. Keep your camera ready as wildlife, such as moose and the occasional black bear or coyote, may be seen. Moose seem to enjoy an evening swim in the pond.
Whether you are in Homer on business, sabbatical, vacation or honeymoon, the Twin Puffins offers a private and secluded getaway with all the modern conveniences of home.
