Secluded Cabin + Guest House with *Private Dock' at West End of Lake Taneycomo
A picturesque site at the 'Deep Water Chute' on Lake Taneycomo about a mile down from Table Rock Dam. Secluded across from 200 foot bluffs with massive oaks shading covered porches and decks. The primary residence cabin has 3br & 2baths, is fully appointed and provisioned, including Cable/WiFi. Adjacent to the main residence, connected by decks is a two room bungalow 'guest house' with separate mini=kitchen and full bath. The bungalow has just been redone from the floods in January 2016. Ample deck furniture including grill and 'porch swings are available. There is ample parking for as many cars as needed as well as a high double carport space for campers or motorhomes. From the deck, there are about ten steps to the large dock with a wide slip which will accommodate guest's 'trailered boat' or a boat rented from Trout Lodge Marina just 200 yards downstream. There is a public access boat-launch just 200 yards upstream from the residence. This quiet and beautiful setting is as good as it gets for a 'Trout Fishing Experience on famous Taneycomo. Of course just up the hill is The College of the Ozarks with their award winning upscale Keeter Center Restaurant. Just down the street across from Trout Lodge, is Gilberti's Italian and at the top of the hill you will find McDonalds, Country Mart Sonic, etc. The residence is about a mile down the hill from College of the Ozarks which is immediately at the Hollister exit. The 'Strip/76' exit is just 4 minutes away and The Landing' only 5 minutes away either by I-65 or the back way through downtown Hollister.

Great House and Guest House. Listing is super accurate and the best back porch! Great location near the highway but off the beaten path.

Eight of us went and the place was so comfy cozy and had room for all of us. Rustic log cabin on the lake and a big porch to watch the morning fog come in on the water. So peaceful! We loved that it was a rustic setting, no glitz, but just what we wanted to make it so comfortable. We hope to come back next year if schedules allow.
This place was perfect for our family. The house is older but still a great place to stay. The property is beautiful and the location is awesome. Definitely a perfect place for people who like to fish. We had an awesome stay all around. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe getting some pillow toppers for the beds. Other than that, everything was perfect for us.
My family of 6 really loved the view of the lake from the back deck. The house was nice & clean. My son and his wife enjoyed staying in the small cabin and had their privacy. Short drive to town. Could have used a dresser in the room with twin beds to put clothes in other than that everything was great.

Lovely view!
Overall our stay was great! Picturesque view! The deck was a great place to hang out and relax. Plenty of room for several people to stay. I will say that it could have used some extra cleaning and airing out before our arrival. There was an odor that was not pleasant to smell in the main bedroom and bathroom.
But we had a nice time regardless.
Title: A Dreamy Getaway - A Review of VRBO Property
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
We had the pleasure of staying at this VRBO property, and I must say, it was an absolute perfect Thanksgiving getaway.
First and foremost, the location was simply breathtaking. Nestled near the College of Ozark
surrounded by stunning natural beauty, this property offered a serene and peaceful ambiance. that instantly made us feel at home. The log cabin look had a rustic charm that was both cozy and quaint.
The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal.
The outdoor space was perfect! We felt like we were in the wilderness yet we were only 1.8 miles away from the grocery store.

Rustic cabin
If your looking for clean home perfection not your place. Furniture old had holes and cushions didn't fit. WIFI was a hotspot you shared with neighbors. Toilets had issues wouldn't flush used a pitcher from kitchen to fill tank. Owner stated he corrected thing as well as he could. Washer rinse cycle didn't work. We did come for the fishing it didn't disappoint. Patio cushions cover with duck poop. Its rustic and way over priced.
A very nice location. A/C was locked on 72 degrees, we couldn't turn it up so it did get rather cold.
Couldn't figure the TV out so we could only get the Food Network channel, but we weren't there to watch tv anyway.
Wifi wasn't available but phones worked better outside on the deck. All in all it was a very nice set-up and we enjoyed our stay! The guest house door would not latch or lock.

Totally Disappointed/Won’t return
The place hadn’t been cleaned and there was no heat! There was trash and dirty dishes from previous tenants and there was actually hair all over the shower wall. No trash bags or toilet paper we had to go buy. So disappointed as the lake view is awesome but not worth the rest. We will be finding another lake view
Great location, a good cleaning and some maintenance would make this a good place to stay.
Neither TV worked
Front bath room door would not close, back bathroom door would not latch.
Patio roof leaks.
Rotten boards on patio, lots of rotten boards on dock.
Picture window broken, held together with tape.
No response from owner.
Can’t be a place for 10 when the guest house has NO HEAT. They brought in a portable space heater, but apparently they don’t realize they are incredibly dangerous. Temperature was 15° when we left the area this morning. We spent 2 days floating from hotel to hotel and fighting for a refund. Still waiting on the refund…

Beautiful Lake with Breathtaking Views
Upon checking in we noticed the property wasn’t cleaned very well from the past guests. The gas grill was on, bedding dirty, drug paraphernalia found in a bedroom and dirty AC unit in guest house. I immediately brought this to the owners attention in which they shared they didn’t have time to clean it between guests due to it being a tight turn around. The listing boasts a Dock but you can’t park a pontoon in it, it also states shampoo and other bath amenities would be on site, which was not true.
There was ample space for party of 11 with lots of parking. The outdoor space was the best part of this property. While the host was responsive they weren’t surprised about the condition of the property. We will definitely visit Tanney Como again but choose a different place to stay.
My wife and I enjoyed your staying at this place, it was exactly what we needed to wind down and a great start to our vacation that we just concluded. While the inside was rustic, it was exactly what I expected. The back porch was a great place to drink coffee in the morning and BBQ in the evening. We took advantage of the dock and fished and had a great time.
The only negative was the TV, there were only a few channels on TV, and no way to get TV apps such as Prime, Netflix, Fubo, etc because there were no remote to get them or any other app. There were numerous controls in the house that did not go to anything, so we did other things besides watch TV. lol
We enjoyed the amenities of the house. The kitchen had the right amount of everything to cook or BBQ. The dining room was bigger than I expected and was very comfortable. The living room furniture and bedding was satisfactory. The back porch as stated was the star of the show.
It was a short 5-10 minutes to Branson which was nice to go see a show or shop.
Overall we really enjoyed the place it was peaceful, quiet and comfortable and if it is available we will return next year and visit again
2 days prior to arrival owner messaged that hot tub was down and that there was a leak in the guest house. With 2 days notice, we decided to keep booking as we didn’t need the extra space. Upon arrival, we discovered the hot tub had been gone for so long there was no evidence that it ever existed. We thoroughly inspected the property, which we do with any rental. We found water running in a sink in the guest house and open pipes sticking up from the floor where it appeared a repair was underway with water shooting onto the floor. My husband is a retired contractor. He went to the hardware store and purchased supplies to plug the pipes. We are property owners and did not want the property to flood further.
We were over 5 hours from home and it was already late in the evening so we decided to make due for the night, so we chose to stay one night. My husband slept in a recliner as he refused to sleep in the beds. There are holes in the walls, sheets are either filthy or are covered in wear balls, and despite a cleaning fee, this place hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time. This property is unsafe and filthy. We checked out the next morning. John, the property owner agreed to a partial refund, but has not and will no longer respond to my messages. I have lodged a formal complaint with VRBO and requested that the property be removed from VRBO. Unfortunately, I am unable to post pictures on this review because you would have to see it to believe it.
Beware! This is the most unclean and unkept place we have ever stayed. Communication with the property manager is very poor as well. He never responded to one message through VRBO or a text but he did answer my call. Upon our arrival it was clear the place had not been cleaned from the previous guests. There was food in the refrigerators, sticky food droppings on the counters, trash was not emptied, trash under the beds and sofa, shoes left behind, the worst was one of the toilets wasn’t flushing and needed to be if you get what I’m saying. We had to fill the tank with water from the sink to get it flushed and open windows to clear the smell. When I spoke to John, the property manager, his response was “you have two other toilets” - he said he called the plumber to come out but he never showed. We spent most of our first day cleaning and buying sheets for the beds as this was the kind of unclean where you don’t trust anything was cleaned. The view absolutely stunning! Such a same as this could be a great property. I am in contact with VRBO as this property does not meet their standards and should be removed from listing until they can do a better job cleaning and sanitizing.
I recommend reading the reviews! John likes to call people “woke” and blame others for the run-down and absolutely filthy dwelling that VRBO allows him to rent out. Upon arrival, the front of the property looks nice. However, the minute you step inside, the nice appearance is gone. Now, I don’t have a problem with a place being outdated, but when you combine that with completely rundown and dirty, that’s not good. Starting with cottage, the overwhelming smell of mildew was more than a person can handle. There was also a window unit that was AC only…no heat in the cottage and the nights were going to be in the low 40s. The roof had leaked and the ceiling the bathroom was black with mold and had fallen in around the light fixture. The shower was disgusting as well and the shower head was completely corroded. There’s a hot-tub that doesn’t work that is quite the eyesore. The main house…wow is all I can say. It was filthy. I was told that the cleaning crew would be in there until 3:00 getting the place ready for us. I am positive that they don’t use a cleaning crew…they don’t even bother sweeping the floors. The dog smell is pretty prevalent, there was dirt and dog hair pretty much everywhere…including on top of the fridge! It was so bad, I booked a different place down the river and left this dump. John offered half of my money back to VRBO but then later messaged that he was keeping it. Absolutely filthy place.VRBO should NOT allow it to be rented!Disgusting unit
Great location "Butt..." Very Poorly Maintained Property
The owners check in instructions they send 24 hours before arrival reads: "IF THIS FURTHER DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY, THAT IT IS “AN OLDER, NICE, BUT WORN CABIN IS NOT WHAT YOU HAVE HOPED FOR…….PLEASE CANCEL AND BOOK ONE OF THE NEW GLITZY EXTENDED FAMILY PROPERTIES WITH UPSCALE SUBURBAN AMENITIES
After arrival we found and older very worn cabin. It appears there has been little or no maintenance of this property. Very dirty, bugs everywhere, cobb webs everywhere, light bulbs burnt out, TVs in both buildings don't work, ROKU not working, DVD not working BBQ grill does not work, patio heater does not work. The one thing we did enjoy was the new firepit after we removed all the built up leaves off deck and pit area. We have stayed at fish camps and hunting camps that were better maintained than this property. We definitely cannot recommend this property to friends or family when there are many more properties, we have stayed at in the past, within a mile for rent at similar cost.
I didn't expect the ritz, but I'm still not fully satisfied with what I paid for. If you don't mind ruffin' it a bit you will be fine. The beds seemed clean and the backyard was picturesque. However, if you plan on using the smaller cabin, there is no hot water. The wifi does not work. We also saw a handful of roaches in both cabins during our stay. I would not rebook unless the property owner puts some money back into this place. It was overall filthy, a lot of things were broken, and we found quite a few nails and screws in the gravel drive. Not to mention I reached out to the Property Manager the day of because they forgot to send us check-in instructions. It could be a nice getaway, but it needs a lot of TLC.
