We had a great stay at Big Red. The location was ideal - close to the beach, trails and a short drive to downtown. Home was clean and cozy and had everything we needed for a family stay with littles.
We had a great time! The house was the perfect location to the lake. It was clean and in a great neighborhood. I would highly recommend this property and would stay there again in the future! It had everything we needed and close access to grocery stores.
The best stay! Cutest house close to the beach! So clean and well stocked. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back! Loved the patio area and backyard for the kids. Walking distance to a few fun restaurants.
We took an impromptu family trip to Holland for the weekend. This house happen to be available. It was perfect fit. All of our needs felt super cute and cozy. Very well stocked. Everything was great. The kids said The couches were amazing!
This older home has been nicely updated and had plenty of room for our family. Close to the lakeshore (5min drive out to holland state park beach). Loved the fire pit and outdoor space. The second bathroom was really only useful for kids as it’s tiny—adults all used the one big shower. kitchen had great space and supplies. We had a great time! Would recommend!
The Big Red Cottage was a convenient home base. We ate on the large deck and enjoyed home-cooked meals from the well-stocked kitchen. We visited Windmill Island Gardens, Holland State Park, climbed the stairs at Mt Pisgah, played disc golf, rode the bike trail, and shopped the farmer's market and the downtown stores. Ice cream at Captain Sundae was a favorite stop. Beautiful property in a beautiful place.
Great location. Just down the road from Lake Michigan. Plenty of room for the 5 of us (3 adults & 2 children). House was clean, and stocked with all the necessities. The large deck was very relaxing. 2nd bathroom is the size of one on an airplane (or smaller). Main bathroom was nice size. I would recommend Big Red Cottage.
Beautiful home in a great location! Very clean. Dryer took way too long to dry, and the 2nd bathroom was, as described, very tiny. Would rent this home again.
This place was Gorgeous. Beautiful property with a nice deck and fire pit area. The upstairs was a bit warm and there wasn’t an air conditioner in a window to turn on unfortunately but the windows did open which helped a bit. There are 2 bathrooms but only one of them was usable as the other one was too small for us to even sit on the toilet with the door closed. (Maybe kid friendly?)
Over all, this place was amazing. Fully stocked kitchen, with the exception of the fridge of course. It was a nice home away from home and it was very close to the art fair which had tons of amazing crafts and artists.
This home was very clean and updated with modern amenities. There is a nice deck and separate seating area around the firepit. We walked to a pleasant restaurant and rode bikes along the many bike paths. We had a very enjoyable time.
I was supposed to take my daughter on a trip to California as a present for graduation from nursing school. But Covid. So we settled on Holland. The location of this property is just excellent. We were a very short drive, or a 10 minute bike ride to either Ottawa Beach or Tunnel Park Beach. You are only ten minutes from downtown Holland, which is one of my favorite downtowns. Lots of shops and restaurants. The farmers market was EPIC!
The property was perfectly represented by the photos in the listing. Clearly, it was very recently remodeled. If felt new throughout. There were LOTS of bed options for myself, my daughter and her two friends. All of the beds were very comfortable. The entire property was very clean! There were tons of towels (beach and shower). The kitchen was well stocked and the utensils were like new.
We had a wonderful bonfire at the firepit. The only negative thing we had to say about the property was the trendy, cutesy marshmallow roasters were completely useless (haha) They were very cute and creative, but you had no ability to rotate your marshmallow over the flames.
We loved our stay, and would absolutely come back. Great property!
Friends and I stayed here for a weekend trip. The property was beautiful, well stocked, and very clean. The location of this property is right next to the state park, boating rentals, bike rentals, etc. which was great. We would definitely stay here again!

Cute looking home
This house gave us the space we needed for our girls weekend. The decor was darling and enjoyed the patio and location. We loved the fire pit and being so close to the lake. Our one complaint is that the house was absolutely filthy. It had cobwebs and spiders everywhere. There were also many items left behind from previous renters scattered throughout the house (I.e., baby bottles, toys). This was particularly disappointing to us because the renters would not allow us an early check in because the house was being cleaned, however It is clear an actual clean was not completed. Overall, this house provided us with our basic needs for our trip.
We spent a long weekend up on the lake and this was the perfect place to stay! It’s in a quiet little neighborhood, just a few miles from downtown. It’s perfect for a group to all be together and have plenty of space. I’d definitely stay again!
The red cottage was very clean with plenty of beds for the 5 adults and 5 grandchildren. There are 2 bathrooms, but one is VERY SMALL. The only “issue” we had was with the air conditioning. It is extremely loud and the NEST unit would reset to 75 every night and the bedrooms would get very warm. Other than that, this is a lovely older home that has been completely remodeled and was a nice rental for our vacation!
