The house was very nice and just as advertised. It is close to the Meriwether Lewis Burial site and the trails in the National Park. It was raining when we visited, so we did not get to enjoy the deck. Our dogs loved being able to walk down to the river behind the house. It was not comfortable walking up and down the street because the neighbors have their dogs out and we were not sure if they were friendly. The dogs did not bother us at the house or down by the river. Owner was very excellent with communication and would highly recommend.
The location was very quiet and rural which was the only good thing.
Did not know until we got there that living area and kitchen were on two different floors and stairs are narrow and steps are different heights.
It was only after renting that we found out depending on time of year there can be a problem with insects which would have made a huge difference as to whether we would have risked renting.
Communication with owner was another disappointment. We will not be returning.
I would not consider location near anything but Hohenwald and Merriweather Lewis' burial site.
The property was perfect for our weekend event. We had a cookout on the deck with family and friends… was nice with the shaded deck. Hot time of the year and the AC was incredible! The place was clean and all amenities were as advertised and worked as listed. Highly recommend staying at this house, we hope to return some day. Thank you! Larry Johnson
Rental was easy. Property had everything that it said it had. Quite location and no problem with bugs.

Remote
The property is very pretty and the surrounding area too. The home was clean. But we did have a bit of a glitch checking in but that was resolved. The main issues we had that there was zero communication from the host. I had written a few emails before the out trip and tried to call also no response. We had hoped to use the fireplace but when my husband read me the number I said no don’t start it, it’s the same number I have that I have tried with no luck. The other issue we had (and can happen) is that the drain pipe on the left hand side of the sink was completely detached and the water and soap were going over the pots and pans but again I knew we were not going to get any help from the Host. Lucky we the help of my husband he was able to “fix” it the best he could with no tools.
We won’t stay here again for several reasons but the home was clean, the house is decorated nicely and if your into lots of history this spot is very good. Just keep in mind there is NO reception. We worked around it but if you have younger children or teens this might be an issue.
The high points of our stay were visits to Meriwether Lewis Historic site and short hike to the Buffalo River. We had to be creative with the seating for our 6 family members, but it all worked well.

Disappointed in location and cabin features
Care taker and owner were very nice, however it takes the min of 1 hr to travel for food, 1.5 hr min to do any activities outside of hiking. Distillery 2.5+ hrs away and very limited access to internet and no mobile phone services. Cannot reset the internet or cable as it is glued to the furniture. Fireplace does not work well and caused so much smoke in the cabin it caused sore throats. The deck is falling apart and not safe to walk on. No Tv in master and living room tv has limited channels (mostly home shopping) and parental code placed on most channels and no code provided. The BIGGEST issue is the cabin is it is in another time zone that was NOT communicated. We received solicitation calls to the home the moment we entered and were called promptly at 11 am EST with an 11 AM check out time and the cabin was Central time so it was only 10 am when called. We were not able to check into the cabin until nearly 4pm EST, 3pm Central time. The AC leaked and no firewood was provided, only old previously burned wood. The stairs within the cabin were very slippery and when grabbing the hand rail, it moved. Fruit from neighbor's tree fell on my car and over the sidewalk. Trash from previous attendant filled the outside trash leaving barely any room for our trash so we had to keep everything inside until we left out of bear of bears or other animals. Upon leaving, I was asked to text a phone number to advise I had left, and the number was not working. No numbers were left to contact the home owner outside of that number. Very disappointed in what we received for the money spent.
Owner was very easy to communicate with. The property is well cared for and is conveniently located to some great historical sites. We had a wonderful stay.
Over 500 dollars for 2 nights, and the A/C didn’t work the entire time. It never got below 85 during the day and 80 at night. If this tenant doesn’t do something to reconcile this (full refund), then we will never be staying there again. I’ve already contacted her to find some sort of reconciliation, but she isn’t hearing what I’m saying. I have screen shots of the entire conversation that will show you how oblivious she seems to be to the needs of those who rent her home through Vrbo. The screenshots show that she was aware of the issue and that she didn’t have it fixed or even contact us to let us know it was a problem. I wish there was an option to add pictures in this so those who are reading this can see the conversation and make an educated decision.
The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and there was a charcoal grill on the deck. Even though it was a good 30 minute drive to the Crazy Horse, it was worth it to stay at such a nice place.
Private and clean cottage on a well paved road and close to Meriwether Lewis State Park (wish we brought our bicycles). The cottage had many amenities available such as plenty of utensils, cookware, toiletries, towels, condiments, and outdoor accessories (e.g., walking sticks, bug spray, bug candle). The HVAC was excellent for both floors even after we lost a little power one night (we were there in mid-June). Very good instructions on checking in, checking out, and tips on keeping bugs out of the cottage.
Comfortable and welcoming. Enjoyed the stay. Quiet - near the end of a dead end road. Hohenwald is close enough (10 miles?) to easily get supplies. Meriwether Lewis Park is right down the road and David Crockett State Park is right outside Lawrenceburg. Both are very well-maintained and provided good hiking with the dogs. Natchez Trace Parkway is a beautiful drive.
We had a wonderful stay. My only suggestion would be a note/manual on how to operate the tv downstairs. But aside from that, the home is beautifully decorated and well furnished. Love the outdoor decks and it’s only 10 minutes from town.
We stayed in this quiet cabin in the woods for a week to visit family in the area. The location is beautiful and secluded, the cabin has a couple of decks to sit out on and enjoy the quiet. It is right off of Natchez Trace so there is plenty of beauty to explore in the area. Cell service is pretty spotty in the area, but the cottage has Wi-Fi. We enjoyed our stay!
We had a great stay. Two huge decks, one with rocking chairs, other with a swing. The property was very clean, lovely decorated and had everything we needed. With covid restrictions we cooked most meals but got lunch a couple times at a market/deli very close by. We saw a lot of deer and birds including a blue heron and an eagle. Since we have family in the area we hope to come back soon.
Such a perfect location for a Christmas get away!!! They made the house feel super comfy, and we loved the remote location!!! Will be trying to come back in the summer!!!
Excellent location between Hohenwald and Lawrenceburg
Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Little touches of home well thought out. Monogram robes were a grand touch. Beds slept great. Super clean in and out.

Weekend in the woods
My family and I requested an early check in which wasn’t available and that was fine. We were told check in wasn’t until 3 pm. On our way I still didn’t have check in instructions so I messaged the host and got no reply for approximately an hour. When we arrive at 2:58 pm the cleaner was still there. She told me she didn’t know there were guests coming and she would need another hour. Unfortunately we had 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs with no where to go. She advised be to “go up the road” to get service and call the owner. I did so and left a message. Immediately after I got a text with check in instructions. I replied that we were not able to check in. I was told that the other guest were late checking out due to over drinking. I said that, that is understandable however someone should have told me before we drove 3 hours. I did receive one apology followed by an excuse that the owner likes to keep the property clean. Again, I stated I appreciated that but was in the middle of no where with a whole family now. We got in just after four after driving around. The place was clean but please note it is quite small. It holds 6 but NOT comfortably. The family room is in the basement with the master so it’s awkward to use it if you aren’t staying in the master. There is no living area except the kitchen in the upstairs. There is also only one heating unit and the basement is very chilly. In order for the basement to be comfortable the upstairs has to be very warm. It made for a poor nights sleep for the four of us upstairs. The decks are both wonderful and the woods were very nice too with an ATV type trail down to the water. The house pretty much sits on top of the road but it is a one lane quiet road. My family and I left early - only staying one night instead of our paid for two nights due to the size and heat issue. If you are a small family looking for a quiet stay in the woods it would work.
House a little small and closer to the road than desired since we took our dogs, but otherwise it was fabulous and very peaceful and perfect place to get away. Manager was responsive to emails and texts. Close to the Natchez Trace, waterfalls and parks.Definitely recommended if visiting this area.
Thank you
