The room was reasonably nice although the bathroom was unnecessarily dark. The shower being in an accessible room flooded the bathroom floor everytime it was used.
Bed is fairly comfortable. Air con a plus but no control over the settings. Parking was a abysmal, first finding the driveway from a busy difficult to turn around on street, then finding the actual correct garage door (apparently you’re meant to understand that one of the three doorways with a cryptic deconstructed “C” leading to what looks like the door to a warehouse is indicative of a parking garage. Then figuring out how to get the keypad to work, then navigating with a small car getting through the very narrow garage door after a tight turn and finally the 13 point turn into the very tight parking spot. The whole ordeal took 45 mins. Hallway is far from welcoming. Not sure the vibe they’re after, if it’s ~anxiety~ they’ve nailed it. Between the disconcerting audio on repeat that can only be describe as taxi jam in Mumbai in rush hour and the creepy drawing in the dingy poorly lit hallway. Somehow this is all just “art”. Location is good but the car was so hard to get in I was too scared to drive anywhere to have to deal with it all over again so didn’t bother going anywhere that wasn’t walkable. To be honest as much as the room was nice, I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
The Waggon is great place to stay on the edge of the Hobart CBD. The owners have taken an old pub and beautifully transformed it into a dining/bar/accommodation hub. The decor, furnishings room size and amazing bathroom are all superior to branded hotels the city centre - at half the price on the night of our stay.
Over all the property was very good the staff were helpful and friendly.
We did notice in the room although very clean there was no where to hang a jacket or dress etc.
we also found parking hard to find close to the accommodation
We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were friendly and had lots of lovely touches. The room was huge, and very well maintained and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant downstairs is a standout and I recommend having dinner there.
I wouldn't recommend if you have mobility issues as their are lots of stairs.
Parking is available on the street, but we rarely had issue getting a park
A lovely renovation with some teething problems. Channel 7 TV reception was poor and needs some tuning. Personally I would prefer a cup of tea in my room to a cocktail although I appreciate the thought behind providing that and the dips. I don't think you should be advertising on site parking - it clearly wasn't an option when we arrived, but we were able to find street parking without too much difficulty - this might be different on week days.
