This hotel is all about location—right in the heart of the city, with easy walking access to many attractions. Taxis will get you to sites farther out. It has a 5-star reputation and generally lives up to that reputation. My wife and I have stayed here every time we have visited HCM city, usually for more than one day, and would look to do so any future stay in the city. By Vietnamese standards, it costs a bit more compared to other hotels in the area. Compared to hotel rates in the U.S., however, it is a great deal for a room that is more spacious than your average hotel in VN, with a fabulous buffet breakfast available to boot. What’s not to love about all this?

We have stayed at the Rex on several previous trips to HCM City. Since we were pleased then, it was a no-brainer to choose the place again. We weren’t disappointed. The room was great, the staff are always at the top of their game, and the buffet breakfast is a wonderful plus. If you’re willing to pay a little more for this incomparable location, you won’t be disappointed.

We got the Governor Suite which had two rooms two toilets. Excellent area for walking distance to the tourist spots and close to the Opera House for the tour pick up spot. We had the pool on the 5th floor which was great at the of day. Breakfast was included and always had a variety for buffet. Shopping centres and markets are close by - lots to see and do

Very nice hotel / but too old inside need upgrade Washroom bathtub way too high . When floor wet super danger - im almost hit my head to the tub turn out try to hold shower bar hit my leg to the side of the tub hurt so bad Staffs expecting tip each time you need room service like more towel or toilet paper / every thing Out of that very noisy area unless you like nite life or walk around convenient Music from all day to 10 pm

The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful in every aspect. The rooms are huge as are the bathrooms. They are really dark when the blinds are drawn and super quiet. It is very convenient to everything and all places are walking distance. It’s a big hotel and easy to get lost! Breakfast is great but eat outside on the rooftop. The rooftop bar has an excellent view for watching the city traffic rush by. I would stay here again definitely for the comfort of the rooms and the convenience of the location. Well done to the attentiveness of all the staff. You can tell they love their jobs!

The Rex continues to be a delightful classic in a city bursting with modern hotels. The room was big, bed comfortable, the breakfast is wonderful, the location is superb in the very heart of District 1. Loved the swimming pool and gym, watching the bustle below while sipping cold drinks on the rooftop. Issues were addressed quickly and solutions offered, which was appreciated.

Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast included with room charge is a bonus. Great location, near the center of the tourist area. Had a small incident with the bed, but was resolved quickly, however one of the house attendant tried to blame the guest. Management apologized and it was all good.

Overall I loved my stay, loved the hotel even though it needs a touch up here and there. Hotel has history and character. I wouldn’t bother with the massages though as we were disappointed in ours. However, I do advise when there’s weddings there should be something set up for staying guests who also have paid to enjoy facilities. Weddings stopped guests from enjoying a drink at the rooftop bar in the evenings for a few nights and no alternative was set up for guests which is unacceptable. Quite a few guests were not pleased with this. You don’t forget your guests, just have an area you can send guests to as an alternative but you provided nothing. So we were forced to leave hotel, when some nights you just want to enjoy a meal and drink in hotel or a drink after going out back at the hotel. This is reason I could not give 5 stars. Nevertheless, I would definitely stay here again, staff were lovely, but please for future when there’s weddings remember you have guests too who have paid to enjoy their evening in the hotel. Just set up an alternative area that’s all. Look forward to returning in the future.

Breakfast buffet is of low quality. Property is OLD and in serious need of renovation. Great location for new visitors to Saigon, but in no world can this property be remotely considered 5-star. Expedia needs to look at that star rating that is deceptive and borderline fraud.
