About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Early colonial style homestead [circa 1906]

A simple, very rustic [self-contained] homestead, best enjoyed by people wanting to escape the fast paced city life for the tranquility of the country. It is remote, yet only 6km into Hill End town. We offer our guests, space, clean/comfortable beds, spectacular views, peace and quiet!

Access to the homestead is via 5.5kms of dirt road from the highway, 4WD is preferable, however a 2WD will get you to the homestead [in dry weather] and back if you take it slow and easy. Strictly 4WD only in the winter months and after heavy rain.

Bring your pet [maximum of two], relax and just laze around the homestead, enjoy a drink or two around the outdoor fire-pit, go for a walk, practice your photography, paint a picture, take in the bird life [so many!], gaze the amazing star show at night. If you don't want to cook take a short drive into Hill End historic township for great coffee and food at either Hill End Estate, Hill End General Store & Cafe or Hill End Pub, plus don't forget to visit the History Hill Museum Hill and the Hill End Heritage Centre.

Initially part of Gundowda Estate in Hargraves, NSW, the property was later split up for sale and the homestead was purchased by the Graham family in 1976. Having lost their original home to fire, they then spent the next three years lovingly and painstakingly deconstructing the homestead and then rebuilding it plank by plank, brick by brick, onto its present site at Posey Hill, Hill End.

This is a truly unique property featuring, 12 foot ceilings, six fireplaces, four extra large bedrooms [sleeping a total of 12 people], country kitchen with electric and wood-fire stoves, wooden floorboards throughout, wrap-around verandas, federation bathroom with claw-foot tub.

The feeling you get when you enter this property is hard to put into words, but it just feels good to be there.

Only an hour's drive to either Mudgee or Bathurst and three and a half hours from Sydney.

$250 per night, [$260 winter months] minimum 3 night stay [discounts for return and longer stays].
Motor Bikes, Quad Bikes, All Terrain Vehicles or Hunting NOT permitted.

A rejuvenating stay
Was looking for an off the beat farm stay, and this property was the perfect fit. It was so tranquil and out of the world! Our group absolutely loved the evening times bbq and around the outdoor fire pit. Kids had a great time together and can't stop telling stories about it. Such a nice holiday, thank you so much.

Love the quiet and solitude
This property sits in its very own valley full of kangaroos, wallaroos, loads of birds, and lots and lots of quiet. We loved it. The house is large and has a few different spaces for friends....we had a jigsaw going in the lounge, baking in the kitchen, birdwatching on the verandah, book discussions in the sitting room. It was perfect for us!!

Beautiful, serene spot.
We stayed with 4 friends and our 2 medium dogs who loved the large yard, scenery and great walks in and around Hill End. The house has a cosy charm and amazing starry skies at night. The hosts were very responsive before the trip and during our stay. We'd love to come back some time

Lovely house in the country.
Well looked after farmhouse. Beautiful paddocks surrounding the farmhouse, stretching up gentle hills in all direction- gives plenty of space and privacy (and lots of nice walks/views). Close to Hill End, kids enjoyed the town and gold panning. House much larger than we expected and bedrooms were all a good size. Our dog also enjoyed the large fenced yard around the house.

Brilliant
This was our second stay after 2 years of our youngest recounting the last stay as having been the best holiday we had ever been on (agreed on by his siblings). Anna left a lovely present for the birthday boy which he loved and wrote a reply which he left on the kitchen table. The second stay was even better than the first. The whole family are very happy!

The perfect getaway to unwind!
What a sublime getaway we had! The absolutely perfect place to unwind, reset and recharge! We had a wonderful 3 nights at Posey HIll. The homestead is beautifully preserved and presented and includes a fully equipped kitchen for all your self catering needs. The wrap around verandah was the perfect spot to relax. I recommend bringing a pair of binoculars as the bird life was pretty amazing once you started looking! Our count from our stay: Red rumped parrot, Welcome Swallow, Weebill , Willy Wag Tail, Gallah, Magpie, Black faced cuckoo shrike, Wedge Tailed Eagle, Superb Fairy Wren, Magpie Lark, Eastern Rosella, Australian Wood Duck, Grey Falcon. We were able to access Posey Hill with our Mazda 3 but we got REALLY lucky because it was quite dry prior to our arrival and during our whole stay. I’d suggest a 4WD (as they recommend prior to booking) is the way to go. BUT grateful I somehow missed ALL those warnings and booked and then just kept fingers crossed that the weather makers would be kind - and they were! When the time came (3 nights goes fast!) I really didn’t want to leave. Anna and Bob are running a beautiful property! With a personalised welcome note, flowers and delicious Mudgee Biscotti - it was the cherry on the top of our fabulous break!

Amazing Historical Homestead
Posey Hill is truly the most amazing grand old homestead, so full of history and character, it was like taking a step back in time. Beautifully decorated and full of wonderful old 'treasures', we loved the huge fireplace. Quiet & Peaceful. So glad we got to spend a few days enjoying it.

Stunning location surrounded by history
The homestead is located in a breathtaking location. The house is full of character and is beautifully decorated. It was definitely like stepping back in time. It does get very cold in the middle of winter so bring lots of warm clothes. It's definitely a memorable experience!

Posey Hill Perfection
We had a brilliant time at Posey Hill, it's the ultimate rustic farmhouse getaway. Even though there was an incredible amount of rain (there was flooding in many areas of NSW) we stayed dry and warm by the fire or cosied up in bed with an electric blanket. We loved the outlook and exploring the property, and surrounding historic towns. Thanks so much for the memorable and peaceful stay.

Country getaway
My family and I loved our stay. We arrived to a warm welcome message and a little treat for the birthday we were celebrating. The house has a beautiful charm, plenty of space and comfort. We enjoyed the tranquility and remoteness of the property. It can get a little cold in the house since doors and windows aren’t perfectly sealed, as happens in old places (part of the charm really), so when indoors we spent most of our time in the gas heated lounge room and had the fire going in the kitchen, before snuggling into the warm comfy beds.

Great Hideaway
This is a great property, perfect rural home, ample room inside and out. Just sit on the veranda and watch the cattle feed, the roos in the distance or the many birds, or if its cool set the fire in the kitchen with your pup at your feet. Our dog loved being here, lots or grass around the house to lay and role in when he was not on guard duty. We look forward to visiting again!
