For the adventurous types, there are hundreds of hiking trails, tubing along local nearby rivers, waterfall hiking and viewing, and more. When back at the house, enjoy listening to the mountain stream just below the house in Ravenel Ridge as you stargaze from the large private deck. You can also enjoy golf in and around the area and expert talks delivered at the Highlands Biological Station or as an introduction to a performance at the Arts Center. Alpine Fox is nestled within all this activity for each person in your group to enjoy.
The Town of Highlands lieswithin the Nantahala National Forest within the Blue Ridge Mountain range. Hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty abound out here. Two of the more popular hikes in the area are: Whiteside Mountain Trail and Glen Falls Trail. Trails from the National Forest to Yellow Mountain for those with lots of capacity for challenging yourself. Download alltrails or a similar app and check out the house's hiking guide.
To reward yourself after a hike, walk right out your door to numerous top notch restaurants, such as: Wolfgang's, Primary, Lakeside, Wild Thyme, Ugly Dog Pub, Mountain Fresh, Madison's, and Four65 pizza. Inside the town, there are several wonderful spas including one at Old Edwards, amazing shops, and unique finds. If you're into art, check out the Bascom for their exhibits and pottery classes.
