Set a small distance from townships, this locality seems remote, quiet, set in the hills on acres. Barrie the landlord is extremely welcoming, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. He serves a gourmet home made breakfast with freshly picked ingredients. We fed the cows and had a tour of the farm before we left. Great getaway from the city
Comfortable and stylish accommodation in stunning natural surrounds. Barrie is an extremely hospitable and engaging host. The breakfasts are scrumptious and my partner was thrilled in getting to feed the cows! Highly recommend.
Natures paradise, a great place to relax and enjoy beautiful scenery. Barrie the host delivered over and above expectations with his humor, informative conversation & complementary cheese tasting expertise. Thoroughly enjoyed this space, nothing was too much trouble and our gourmet breakfast was superb.
Was a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Our host Barrie was very welcoming and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed .
Breakfast was lovely and well presented.
I would highly recommend and definitely good value for money
My wife and I were looking for a nature getaway where we could relax and enjoy some time together. Barry's property is beautiful and you can tell a lot of thought and consideration has gone into everything provided to the guests. Breakfast was delicious and Barry is an extremely helpful and considerate host. We really enjoyed our stay at Highroost
A lovely overnight experience with a friendly host where nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend for a stay to refresh and experience something a little different. We were very grateful for all of the effort the host put in to show us around and for the cheese tasting. The breakfast was awesome also.
Country hospitality at it's best in a beautiful, peaceful location
Barrie was a great host. We enjoyed the delicious breaky, evening drink, feeding the goats, tour of his property, cheese tasting, watching birdlife and wild life and good chats. Great experience and good value.
The accommodation is perfect if you’re looking for a rural, country getaway vibe. Especially if you’re looking for something off-road and secluded. The scenery from the room is stunning and perfect for a relaxing time. The shared living space is beautiful and the garden space is amazing to roam around. Breakfast was incredible! And I loved the sheep 🐑
Barrie is a great host, very accommodating, and easy to converse with.
Although we didnt get to spend as much time at the property as we would of liked due to an event we had to attend, the place was just magical. Barrie was a great host and was very welcoming from the moment we got there!
Also cooks a mean breakie! Would definitely like to return with more relax time to enjoy what the property truley has to offer :)
I just want to say Thankyou to Barrie for being a wonderful host. It was my very first experience of going to a bed and breakfast and I loved every moment. The property is so earthy and has so much character with all the stone/rock and all the wild life. Very relaxing.
The property is an ideal getaway for city-dwellers. It is a fairly short drive from Adelaide yet feels secluded enough to feel like a break. The accomodation has very nice views, is clean and stays warm in the winter. The host is very attentive and generous - if you are looking for a more involved experience with your host then you will enjoy this stay. The only thing to bear in mind is that the road in might be a little tricky for some of the smaller 2WD cars out there.
We had a magical one night stay at Highroost with host Barrie. We enjoyed the late afternoon and sunset from one of the many beautiful vantage points on the property. Later in the evening we had a very unique cheese tasting experience that is highly recommended. This, couple with a glass of wine and a laugh with Barrie made for an unexpected and very special overnight stay.
We would love to stay again as our only regret was we did not have enough time to take in the whole property and enjoy the peaceful flora and fauna filled surrounds. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with a special experience you are in for a treat.
And- definitely meet the goats!
We followed the directions and travelled down the road/track over the creeks etc., a lovely drive, don't be dismayed, it is at the end of the road where you will find the Black Electric Gate. Open it and drive up the very steep hill to the parking area, well worth the climb, the view is great.
Entering your cabin overlooking the deck you are greeted by your host.
Before eating our takeaway dinner our host entreated us to choose our breakfast menu.
I indulged, I am so glad it did, it was magnificent.
As the sun set we took in the vista of the opposite hills, just lovely.
After tea we listened to the proposed future cheese making developments for the property, while sipping a glass of wine and learning the finer points of cheese making.
The garden and the wild life are luxuriant and its construction on the side of a very steep hill is just breath taking with the private sitting areas distributed around and above the garden.
In the morning we took a walk up to the top of the hill where the original farm house still exists.
Good exercise, a bit too healthy for me!
This is a B & B we would love to return to, staying for a much longer period than our overnight stay would allow.
So, So quiet and peaceful.
Our host most hospitable and entertaining and alway able to add some interesting fact or observation we may not have been aware of.
Finally, if you want an enjoyably relaxing stay in this area, you will be "hard pressed" to find a better venue.
Absolutely incredible stay! Couldn’t believe that a property with such beautiful views existed so close to my home. Barrie is an incredible host and makes the most amazing breakfast you’ll ever eat. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!
Had a lovely stay with Barrie at his little hidden gem. Our stay wasn’t about our room it was about the experience that Barrie offered as host. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was relaxed and enjoyable and it certainly was that!
This is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Comfortable accommodation which is part of a unique homestead with great views and wildlife. Barrie is a great host and nothing is too much trouble for him. A truly enjoyable experience!
We had a lovely time, the setting is stunning! Barrie is a host with the most. We'll miss his cheesy grin ;). The accommodation was very clean, warm and most comfortable. Breakfast to die for! Thank you Barrie for giving us a wonderful experience.
