Senior Ladies Hiking Group Enjoyed House with Trails Right There
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others. It was conveniently located to the gorge, the bridge, shopping, and lots of wonderful hiking trails. We liked that you could walk out the back door and hike too. The house had all we needed, well stocked kitchen and more. It was so peaceful and quiet and loved the sunrise off the back deck.

Get Away From it All
The home, property, view and surroundings were excellent. The home was well-stocked and very clean. The host was helpful, gracious, a bit business-like. The narrow road to the property was challenging, but worth the trip. We got used to it though. A wonderful 'get away from it all' property.

Fantastic mountain retreat
We had a wonderful time staying here! The setting is beautiful, and we loved sitting around the fire pit and watching the sun set. We also enjoyed being able to walk out the back door and directly into the woods. The house was comfortable, roomy, and provided everything we needed for a wonderful getaway.

Beautiful home
What a gorgeous home with large windows, cathedral ceiling in the open great room/dining room. We wish the weather had been better to take advantage of the outdoor covered patio with dining area and comfy chairs, plus the hot tub. After hiking each day in the New River Gorge National Park, we appreciated being able to easily fix dinner in the spacious, well equipped kitchen. The owner went over and above when we could not figure out how to work Direct TV - his teenage son came over and together by cell they figured out the problem; special thanks to both!

Secluded but convenient to local attractions
The Hemlock House was perfect for us! There is a master bedroom/bath on first floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. This allowed for plenty of space and privacy for each couple. We spent one day hiking the trails right outside the house. The beach trail is a challenging walk but so worth it! We spent another day exploring the National Park and Babcock State Park which were both within 30 minutes of the house. Can't wait to return!

Great escape in the mountains
We really enjoyed our time in Hico. Our intention was to have a place big enough for 7 adults and 3 kids that was close to Summersville lake and Fayetteville. This place fits that bill with it being 25 minutes from both. The home was clean and the owner communicated via text reliably. The parking area was large enough for 3 vehicles and a 20 foot boat on a trailer. The road to the property is a single lane and sometimes tight street as the locals zoom around us visitors making our way to and from the house. The only issue we had was the listing showing the amount of beds available. The listing is accurate as there is a king in the master, a queen in another room, 2 singles in the 3rd. There are 2 hideaway beds under the 2 singles and a couple of roll away beds in the bedroom closets. Just be aware that there is only 3 bedrooms. Not a big deal for us with the kids wanting to sleep in the loft anyways but if we had 4 couples sharing the home, there would have been a contest to see who gets a bedroom. The hot tub worked and it was awesome to be under the stars. The trails right from the home were great too. Our family cooks a big meal every night we are together and this kitchen was the most completely stocked kitchen we have ever rented. You will not have to bring anything for big meal preps to this house! This house will be at the top of our list if we choose to vacation in WV again.

Beautiful and private property
Beautiful property and the house was great. Private, quiet, and clean. The only regret is that our weekend was so packed we didn't get a chance to explore the trail system on the property that goes down to the river. Would love to come back and spend more time at the house.

Great place to hike
There were so many great hiking trails on the property that we didn’t even have to drive anywhere to hike. We took 3 small dogs and the trails were perfect for them to hike with us. The house was very nice, it had everything we needed and lots of windows with a great view. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Hemlock House
My husband, son and two dogs stayed here for four nights. The cabin was well laid out with plenty of space for a small group. When we walked in the first impression was better than expected based on pictures online. The stone fireplace and green walls were so pretty and the living room had an L shaped couch. Kitchen counter and tile floors were also very pretty. The property was secluded from the main road and other cabins with a flat area that went all around the cabin with multiple entrances to the cabins our dogs were able to look outside and hang out outside without worrying about others. That was a huge bonus for the dogs and a benefit for us as well! There was a hot tub which we used and worked beautifully, however I will say though it was removed from the cabin and had no overhang or lights at the hot tub. If it were raining you may not be able to use it. The wifi worked really well as did the reception with the satelite tv. No issues and loved the surround sound speakers. They even went outside which was fun. I do recommend some information be left on how to use the different options on the tv as we do not have satelite tv and took a bit to figure it out verses the Netflix options and using the DVD player. The owner Jarvis was super helpful and response time was instant. The area surrounding the location was very pretty, however it was a good fifteen minute hike up and down steep hills, sharp corners and not well maintained roads which was a little tiresome by the time we were leaving. Beds were very comfortable. Would recommend fans in bedrooms cuz a little stuffy at night and one has a sky light. Overall the hemlock house is a fantastic choice -five star rating. We were very happy with our stay and so were our dogs. The cabin also had a lovely view of the canyon which at times almost looked like the Smokey mountains. Don’t miss the hiking around the New River Bridge-breathtaking!

Hidden gem in Wild & Wonderful WV
We had a fabulous four night stay at the Hemlock House. The house was clean, cozy and perfect for our family of five. It’s a quick 15 min drive from the highway (19). Once you arrive to the Confluence Resort, it feels like you have the woods to yourselves! Great hikes from the house (don’t miss the rock & swimming holes before Confluence Beach or Hidden Falls (careful with little kids). Whitewater adventures are 25 mins away and don’t miss Pies & Pints our Secret Sandwich Society in Fayetteville. We’ll be back for sure!

Amazing Cabin in the woods
We chose this property for several reasons ... we wanted to be away from cities, have access to lots of property to roam and be surrounded by outdoor activity opportunities. We couldn't have picked a better place! It is remote - you need to navigate about 1 mile of single-lane road to get to Hemlock House, but it's worth the drive. The Confluence Resort property has an extensive hiking trail system - we spent 4 hours walking about 7 miles of it, including finding a hidden waterfall, and going down to a secluded beach where the Gauley and Meadow Rivers converge. The house itself is magnificent - with modern furnishing and a huge, wide-open living room / dining room area. We made extensive use of the fire pit and the back porch, which overlooks the Meadow River. The air conditioner worked VERY well. The two closes town, Fayetteville and Summersville, are each about a half hour away. Plenty of shopping and restaurant choices in each. We went kayaking on Summersville Lake, whitewater rafting down the lower New River, and even drove 2 hours to ride ATVs in the Hatfield & McCoy Mountains. There was too much to do - we didn't even hit half of the things on our list. The owner was quite responsive - when the gas grill ran out of propane, he delivered another one within 5 minutes of my call. There were a couple of small things wrong with the place ... lack of a hair dryer, a faulty smoke alarm ... but nothing that would detract from an overall 5-star rating and experience.

Perfect location and vacation home for us
My sons and I and several of their 20 year old friends joined us for a week in this beautiful cabin. We are a very active bunch so we we're thrilled with all of the hiking opportunities right out our door. We especially enjoyed hiking down to the river and playing on the rocks and in the water for several hours. The house is in beautiful condition with everything we needed as well as a beautiful view of the valley below.
