Incidentally, the train journey from Düren to Heimbach with Rurtalbahn is an experience, one of the most beautiful railway lines in Germany.
The house has 4 bedrooms with 2 (to 3) Bedding, a bathroom with tub and a bathroom with walk-in shower (two bathrooms are fully tiled and fitted new). In the living room 2 additional overnight guests can be accommodated, if you have visitors in your holiday season.
The living room is divided into two parts: one half with sofas and chairs to sit together, chatting or watching TV. The other half with a large, extendable table for playing or for family meals and celebrations. In front is a large conservatory, can also be smoked in the case of bad weather. The large terrace next to it has an awning, so that they can be used as additional space in the open in the summer. The views of meadows and the "wild" valley is a nice holiday feeling. The plot is in south direction over the forest, by the lake to get to.
In the reception room invite a cozy armchairs to sit together. The bright yellow, soft bed is the most popular picture book and reading niche in small children.
In the kitchen you will find everything you need people for 8 (up to 10): dishes, glasses, pots and cooking utensils, coffee, Senseo espresso machine, Michschäumer, kettle, toaster, blender and of course stove and oven, dishwasher and microwave , All guests can comfortably sit at the big sturdy wooden table with colorful chairs.
In the wide hallway you can swap on the bench your street shoes to comfy slippers (if you have your forgotten Replacement slippers are available there). There is also room for jackets, coats and umbrellas and dog leashes, rubber boots and bags.
All bedrooms have closets and dressers for your personal belongings and enough hangers for this and that. The bedrooms are individually designed, so that there is a space for everyone - and for children and young at heart adults also a secret hiding place. Our friends here slept so well that by 9 o'clock could be heard in the morning not a peep from them.
We have the bedrooms given name so that you find your way better. If you stairs to. 1 Stock walk up, you open the first door on the right to the room "Luise". Luise is "the white room": bright and friendly, with a 1.80 m wide bed with 2 mattresses. On the shelves you will find entertaining and educational literature. The window looks towards the west, towards the hill to see the Landal. There is a wardrobe and two chests of drawers for your clothes. In cubbyhole behind the wall you can stash suitcases or playing hide. You will also find a baby bed and a sleeping pad for your morning yoga exercises.
Right next to Luise's room "Oscar", the largest of the bedrooms. Oskar also has a 1.80 m wide bed with two mattresses. The large window shows the south in the garden, and if you close the blinds at night not quite, you can in the morning with some luck early a fox or a deer in the meadow. Your laundry is housed in the cabinet with three doors and 2 drawers. On the shelves are books, especially entertaining and classic literature. As the only rooms Oskar also has a desk and next to the bed a TV.
On the left side of the upper hallway, next to the bathroom, bedroom "Timo". Timo has two single beds, making it ideal for two people who prefer to have separate beds, and for children. Under a bed is also a pull-out mattress: As safety net for children, the night falling out of bed. Or as an extra bed if required for one more sleeping accommodation is.
Actually Timo is a children's bedroom with a Elchlampe and children's pictures on the wall, a low level and a sideboard for the toys. On the shelves you can find games and children's books. And of course there is also a cupboard. The window shows the south of the big lawn and the "wild" valley. At dusk and early morning you can also observe foxes and deer - and any time the red male neighbors.
Last Room "Frieda", perhaps the most comfortable bedroom, definitely the smallest. There is a 1.40 m wide bed for 2 children or a couple (our Danish friends said "Frieda is for lovers") and a more broad sleeping under the slope, if the bed becomes too narrow or want a third person to sleep here , The small window goes east on the horse pasture. From this window you can watch the sunrise best.
Incidentally, let reading material and games left at home: in each room you will find books for all ages and games, use up to your heart.
If you want to take a book, just let them know if it is not part of a series of collected works, we are big fans of "books for a journey".
In the cellar you can leave your luggage if you want, cool drinks and store food. Under the stairs is a cool storage room. The spacious laundry room is equipped with washer, dryer and linen. In the basement there is also an additional shower for garden workers and dogs :-)
The environment is fantastic: 400 meters walk through the woods to Untersee, you can easily circumnavigate: Either go to the campsite in rabbits field, over the bridge to lovely old Industrial Museum (formerly the only Art Nouveau power plant in Germany) and circumnavigate the submarine on quiet paths which are suitable for children and dogs.
Or walk on the left continue through the jungle path to Heimbach, which features the castle, many small shops, cafes and restaurants and of course the Eifeltor in the tourist center.
Directly from the house you can look at the donkey meadow (with real donkeys!) passing on a moderately steep walk to Schwammenauel climb the dam. Here you have a great view of the Rursee. Take a trip with the white fleet across the lake to Woffelsbach and Rurberg that's worth it!
Other attractions are the monastery Maria Forest, the beautiful city in the valley Monschau, Vogelsang and of course, the imperial city of Aachen. In House Faltmann see maps, tips and calendar with other ideas for a great holiday.
