We needed a last minute place to stay and Mary saved the day. The cleaning fee for a tiny place added on to the nightly fee was a bit high, but beggars can't be choosers!!
The cabin was clean and well supplied. The marina was quiet in a very lovely area. Captain Billy and Mary were super friendly and couldn’t have been nicer. All in all it was a great experience and awesome place that we hope to get back to sometime.
We truly enjoyed our stay in the tiny house. It was cozy and comfy. The atmosphere was so quiet and peaceful and we were able to get some most needed rest.
We loved staying at Heron’s Nest. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The marina is quiet and clean. We brought our boat and having a covered slip was a bonus for us! We loved being able to jump in and take the boat out without having to launch it every time. Mary was very helpful with our stay. Recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet place right on the bay.
We arrived in the dark and Mary was there to help us. Cabin was exactly as described and had the most pleasant cedar aroma. We enjoyed the view of the bay and for BOATERS, THIS is where you want to be! So quiet at night we had wonderful, restful nights! 15 minutes from Kilmarnock, 10 from Reedville. Perfect stay!
We hoped to give our grandson a mini-vacation of simple pleasures and Heron’s Nest fulfilled our hopes. We were able to attempt fishing and crabbing. There were 2 beaches nearby and a fire pit to make s’mores in the evening. Mary and Bill were helpful with suggestions and communicated well. Our grandson is hoping for a return trip!
I did not stay but leaving a small review for posterity.
Mary(property owner) was helpful in getting our situation adjusted. We really wanted to stay at the property but obligations and timing didn't work. Fully expect to have a caring property owner. I fully expect and aim to stay at this property next year God willing. Thank you Mary for working with us.
The tiny house rustic cabin was charming and well appointed, exactly as described. Super quite at night, sleep with the windows open. Quick access and centrally located in the NNK to both southern and northern towns and restaurants. We toured up and down the shores from Reedville to Urbana and a cruise to Tangier Island. Check out Hughlett Nature Preserve and hang out in Kilmarnack. Ledbellies at the Marina was a great dog friendly restaurant frequented by unapologetic locals. We plan to return, rent both tiny house cabins and take a cruise on the Bay with Captain Billy. Mary and Billy are so friendly and accommodating.
So sometimes people make honest mistakes. Sometimes honest people make honest mistakes. So my trip last weekend got double booked. It could have been a disastrous ending to a much anticipated weekend but due to the integrity and sheer goodness of the people who own this property the situation was resolved with grace and humility. If you ever want to experience a slice of heaven and want to surround yourself with property owners who genuinely care that your stay provides everything you hoped for, this is the place for you. Thank you Mary and Billy! We will be back!
Traveled on my own with mt 10lb pup for a yoga (luuma yoga) , pilates (blue_honey) & sailing retreat. We visited Kinsale (the slips) & Irvington (dear neighbor). Ingram bay Marina was an excellent half way point directly on the bay with phenomenal sunrises & sunsets (a key component in a place to stay). I located this incredible property during a search for a place to stay on Vrbo. So honored to have found this gem. I stayed two nights. Check in process was seamless. Mary & her husband are welcoming & kind. Their property is well loved & tended to. Cabin placement is exceptional! Mary even has privacy plants in the most perfect placement to ensure a sense of privacy during your stay. You can tell she has sat on the porches many times to ensure perfect placement. Cabin is clean, cozy & had everything I needed and more. Great dishes for cooking & seafood boil or grilling out. Reminds me of the perfect eastern shore camping vacations I had as a child. Crabbing, fishing & boating in a prime location! It’s in its own special corner of the earth. “A way of life” Mary said. So much love in the place. Thank you for sharing it with me. It was a pleasure to visit! I would absolutely book again, without a doubt.

We had a very relaxing home away from home getaway. The tiny house was exactly as described in the listing (so cute!). The kitchen was equipped with all necessities needed.
Mary and Captain Billy made us felt so welcome. Mary personally checked us in and gave us few tips. They let us use their crab pots which we came home with 2 dozen (yummy!).
We enjoyed having coffee on the porch in the morning and watching stars (so many, so beautiful) at night. The location was very safe and peaceful (no traffic noises 😊). Our small pet enjoyed running around big the lawn. Love the banana plants (nice tropical touch). In between the 2 tiny houses there is cookout area with large gas grill, picnic table and a lounge chair (very nice setting). There is a beautiful gazebo, picnic area and fire pit by the water (steps away). It was nice to just sit and enjoy the water view.
Tips: Please keep in mind that there is no restaurants, stores, or shopping center nearby. However, they are within 30–40-minute drive to most area. Also, don’t forget to bring your own shampoo, soap, and bug spray.
Suggestions: The area could use some lightings at night, such as strings light would be perfect around the gazebo, picnic area, and the cookout in between the tiny houses, it would make the place more beautiful and more romantic and provide walking hazardous free.
We would be back!
First the cabin was super clean, cozy and temperature controlled. Mary and capt Billy were amazing and super accommodating. Canoeing was a blast! It was alot of fun being able to explore the area. Would definitely come again thanks!
Unique opportunity, flexible hosts, and completely clean!
My family and I had a unique situation wanting to mix camping with a cabin for family members who prefer a bed. Mary was flexible and allowed us to make a complicated situation work in a way most property owners wouldn't. Everything was exceptionally clean. When we needed help with canoes or kayaks for the Marina, help was easy to find. Pricing for activities was clear and upfront. The location is beautiful. Canoeing out from the dock into the bay with my kids was a memory I'll cherish for a long time.

Good place for boaters and other water sports.
We arrived and no one to show us to the property. Captain pointed us to the cabin and said his wife will be over later. We never met Mary.
We needed a hair dryer which was promptly delivered.
There was very little to do around and on one occasion, Captain Bill did make two suggestions for two beaches around( he was in a big hurry, with little time for us)
We left a day early, sent a text advising Mary of our plan. Have yet to hear back from her. The whole experience was very impersonal !!!!!
Would not recommend this rental unless you have a boat or other water sports you practice, because nothing else to do.
Restaurants were hard to come by, closings were strange and sometimes inconsistent with web sight listings.
The house has everything you need. Host Captain Billy and Mary are great host, answered all of our questions quickly and were very accommodating to all of our needs. Cannot wait to come back.
We’ve absolutely enjoyed our stay at Heron’s Nest. The Cabin as we found out was build by the owner himself, so that explains how the cabin is well designed for comfort and space for necessities. We love this fishing location, and appreciate how welcoming and accommodating Mary is! Also, the crew is very friendly. You’ll find small crabs walking around by the deck and also, jellyfishes swimming at the bay.
We’ve caught Croakers and Spot fishes! Can’t wait to return with my family!
Scenic little house with everything you need for a day or a week. Adjacent to a small bay and very nice marina with views they could charge extra for (but don't). Took our 20' skiff for some waterborne sightseeing, and of course Capt Billy put us on some fish! Thanks!!
We booked a last minute getaway with our little kiddos and dog and had a blast! We got to explore the beauty of the area. It was so relaxing. This tiny home was perfect for our family.
My family loved this tiny home, especially my teenage kids. It's located in a beautiful area at a quiet marina. Owners were super friendly and helpful. The set up is really nice with an outdoor grill area right outside the house, and a nearby gazebo, picnic area, and stone paver firepit area. The mini split AC did a great job of keeping the house cool during a very hot visit.
