The cottage is very private with spa, queen size bed with ceiling fans,a full kitchen, DVD TV Video, fire place, laundry, air conditioning and electric heating. Your own undercover car parking, verandahs and barbecue facilities. Enjoy the unique bush and landscaped surrounds of this 14 ac. property set on the Ovens river and bordered by the Alpine National Park and State forest. From your surrounding verandas of your cottage take in the views of the extensive landscaped garden and the mountain ranges of Mount Feathertop. The extensive garden offers you places to stroll and relax and there are great open places where families can play. Walking tracks up the mountain behind your facility offers another experience.
Shady Brook cottages has three individual self contained cottages and one spa apartment on the Ovens River, (refer to website). They are situated on 14 acres, of which 8 acres is landscape garden in a very unique picturesque setting, River on one side and state forest on the other three, only 750metres from the mountain village of Harrietville but your own secluded retreat.
Shady Brook is unique, unlike many holiday venues you have space, seclusion and in a magnificent setting. In each season the landscaped garden offers you special delights, planted down in a primary exotic theme you can enjoy the magnificent Autumn colours that the north east of Victoria is famous for. In spring the colour of 1000's of bulbs bursting forth around Rhododenrons and Azaleas to name a few, flowering trees and native shrubs. Summer is also filled with colour, what better time to enjoy a glass from your deck of your cottage in the cool afternoon. Winter carries its own special time, crank up the the fire and settle down with a good book, clear frosty mornings a time to set off for the snow less than 45 minutes away or a walk or a ride out on the many tracks and trails around Harrietville.
Whilst staying at Shady Brook you will be amazed by its bird life, over 50 species occupy the area and each morning parrots and small finches come down to a bird feeder near your cottage for their morning supplement.
Things to do whilst staying in Harrietville:
Harrietville is a historical village at the base of Mt Hotham and Mount Feathertop. The town has two hotels, museum, cafes and a bakery serving fresh bread daily. Mountain Fresh trout and salmon farm is also a favorite activity along with our local lavender farm with its own cafe on the Ovens River.
The town and Shady Brook is ideally situated for nature based tourism with the iconic walking tracks up through the Great Alpine National park. The Alpine National Park borders the Eastern side of Harrietville and your walk can start from your cottage to Mt Feathertop. Or take a drive 45 minutes to highest point of Mt Hotham.
Around the village there are numerous tracks and trails suitable for families for walking or mountain biking. The town and Shady Brook is ideally situated for nature based tourism with the iconic walking tracks up through the Great Alpine National park. The Alpine National Park borders the Eastern side of Harrietville and your walk can start from your cottage to Mt Feathertop. Harrietville has many four wheel drive tracks and motorbike trails within the state forest on our west.
Only a short drive down the road to Bright there are numerous beautiful wineries, endless nature base activities and various eateries to suit any budget. For the more adventurous there is plenty of nature based activities including the Mystic Mountain Bike Park.
