Hen Stabl - A charming 18th century stone character stables conversion

Hen Stabl is an 18th century stone cottage located within the Snowdonia National Park. Originally the cottage was built as the stables to the parish house of Llanfair. Hen Stabl was saved from ruin and refurbished in the late 1990's by order of Snowdonia National Park due to it's significant historic interest to the village of Llanfair.

The living accommodation at Hen Stabl has been totally refurbished over the past eighteen months to include newly fitted kitchen and bathroom. The layout to Hen Stabl is quirky and on the ground floor you will find two bedrooms, and a bathroom leading from a large hallway. On the first floor is the living accommodation with its high vaulted ceiling, it’s a sociable open plan living space consisting of lounge, dining area and kitchen.

There is ample on road parking at the front of the cottage.

Hen Stabl stands in an enviable location for anyone wanting to explore the Snowdonia National Park, the stunning beaches of Harlech and Llandanwg are only a 10/15 minute walk from the front door. At the rear of the cottage there is a large garden with several seating areas which is shared with our second holiday cottage, Ty Golchi, there is a direct footpath approximately 50 meters from Hen Stabl leading to the hills and mountain range of Rhinog Fawr.

Amazing location and beautiful property & grounds
The cottage itself is well presented and had everything in it we needed. The décor is well-fitting for the style of property and has a lovely relaxing feel to it. Lovely and clean, and owners were very welcoming. The grounds offer different areas to sit in and we enjoyed a couple of evenings eating/relaxing outside. This cottage is located in a very beautiful small village and is within easy walking distance of Harlech. The footpath that is almost opposite takes you down across fields to the beach within approx. 15-20 minutes, or 2-3 mins by car via the road. Several of the other roads lead to footpaths that take you up into the hills behind. We will definitely be back to stay there again.

Very pleasant stay
Had a little difficulty in locating due to relying on "Google" rather than Gary's excellent directions! Location on Google maps has now been updated. Easy access, everything found as listed in Gary's detailed information sheet. Very clean and tidy. Host has great attention to detail. Bed very comfortable, slept well every night. Quiet location. Well equiped kitchen, with wellcome pack of essentials and treats for the week. Comfortable settee and good smart TV. Good Wifi. Convenient bus stop next to property.

One word - Amazing!
We stayed over Christmas - it was an amazing little place to get away from the city and spend quite time with the family, very cosy! Also looks like a great place to visit in summer, close to beach, sailing, trail walks and sight seeing locations. Great for a small family I.e. couple with two kids or even a couples getaway. Furnishings are really nicely done too and a kitchen with everything you need!

Within an hour of booking the host was in touch with all information and contact information which was much appreciated. We had a lovely long weekend at Hen Stabl. The property was exceptionally clean and well maintained. It was very cosy and comfortable and we had a lovely break. Property is conveniently located to explore the surrounding areas and we enjoyed visiting Barmouth , Porthmadog, Harlech and Beddgelert. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to look

Wonderful Stay at Hen Stabl
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this cottage was. During our trip we stayed at various cottages, hotels, and inns for a month. This was the BEST stay of all of them. The place was immaculate, the bed comfortable, and the location superb. Due to a rail bridge issue, we had to take a bus to Harlech. We were dropped off with our luggage in the pouring rain. Gary went out of his way to retrieve us so we didn't get soaked. Thank you, Gary for an exceptional stay.

Lovely stay again
This is our third stay here and we love it . It is a beautiful and well thought out property. The open plan living room/kitchen is perfect for a family group like us . We especially love the shared garden which is so peaceful with great garden furniture and gorgeous planting . Llanfair is a beautiful Welsh village with stone cottages and an old church right next to the property . We like walking into Harlech or down to the beach at Llandanwg. We’ll definitely be back .

Hidden gem
This property was fantastic! We go away at least once a month and this, by far, was the cleanest, modern, and best equipped accommodation we've stayed in. We explored north Wales including Snowdon and was a great base. We are looking to return when the weather is a bit warmer. The accommodation was so comfortable, warm and inviting. The interior design is beautiful. There literally is nothing wrong with this place. We loved it.

We stayed for a week over the Easter school holidays and had a really wonderful time. The property was exactly as pictured and featured everything needed for a really relaxing stay. We enjoyed warm evenings by the fire and slept very well in the comfortable beds. It's the perfect bolthole after a day out in the countryside.
