SKI NUBS & BOYNE! Waterfront! OVERLOOKING LAKE MICH! Pool Table, PS2! SUNSETS!

Built in 2006, this cottage style home has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a total living area 2,400 sq. ft. Plenty of room to spread out. This house is truly designed with the family in mind, with separate spaces for the grown-ups and kids alike.

Vintage Mod, Baby! It's luxurious, with a retro feel - sure to evoke a flashback or two. The shag carpeting, custom ceramic tile, custom woodwork and a mix of retro antiques and custom furniture (not to mention a few surprises) will help make this a vacation to remember.

Located in Harbor Springs opposite Lake Michigan on the famous Tunnel of Trees - a top destination for bicyclists. You're close to such vacation spots as Petoskey, Charlevoix, Cross Village, The Inland Water Way and the Straits of Mackinaw.

Atop this 130' bluff, witness panoramic views that will allow you to see all the way to Charlevoix and on some days even Beaver Island! Enjoy filtered views from the home as well as completely un-obstructed views from the meandering bluffside staircase with secluded sun deck that leads to the very private frontage on Lake Michigan. *Reminiscent of America's Pacific Northwest, there are times you can walk for miles (when conditions allow as it is rocky now, but will be sandy again some day) up and down without seeing a single person!*

*Lake levels and shore conditions are constently changing. There is no guarantee what the shoreline will look like. In the summer of 2019 it had gone from sandy with a few rocks to much higher water levels and no sand at all on shore. However once in the water there is a band of rocks then all sand. We recommend bringing water shoes to walk over the rocks to get to the sandy bottom, it will be worth it!

- For our winter guests we recommend bringing an all-wheel-drive vehicle or at the very least a front wheel drive with good snow tires.

---- Also we provide a starter supply of paper/soap products which should be enough for typical 3 night stay, for a smaller group of 2 people. For a complete list of "what is provided" and "things to bring", check out "Using the property”, on your “My Trip” page.

- Fireplace available Thanksgiving - April 1st.

A Beautiful Home in a stunning location
This property is beautifully decorated and maintained. We enjoyed the art, the comfort of the beds, the view, the silence in the woods, the Lake of course, and the proximity to Harbor Springs and Petoskey. The steps to the beach were a daily challenge, but well maintained, and the deck midway down was a big plus. We rode our bikes through the stunning tunnel of trees daily for our morning coffee at the Trillium coffee shop. It is such a pleasure to stay in this beautiful home with first-class amenities, nestled in the woods on Lake Michigan.

Trip to Harbor Springs
Very nice property. Location was across from Lake Michigan and had excellent views. House was well cleaned and spacious. Plenty of room for our group plus one dog. Only minor issues was the house sleeps 14 but they only provide enough toilet paper and paper towel for 2 guests for 3 nights.

Retro fun + nature at its finest
My family loved staying here. The kids (and dad) enjoyed the old PS2, pool table, and old time movies. We loved exploring the winter beach. You can walk for miles on the beach. Running down M119 in the mornings was serene and beautiful. Proximity to the ski mountains was great!

Great family cottage
We had a wonderful week in the Surf Cottage. Spotlessly clean and comfortable for three adults and three kids with plenty of space to spread out. Having our own beach was great. The kids had fun rock hunting. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, the pool table, and the fire ring. Valerie was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Weekend Getaway
I recently stayed here with my three childhood best friends and we had such an amazing time! We absolutely loved the nostalgia decor and had fun “exploring” upon check in . We are products of the 70s and 80s so it was great reminiscing. The home was extremely clean and had everything we needed as far as kitchen items and appliances. Located across street from Lake Michigan and watched amazing sunsets. Had a great time exploring petoskey. Would not hesitate to stay here again !!

Lovely springtime experience
Scenic drive on M-119 to home, great lake views when you arrive. Harbor Springs, Petoskey, and Mackinaw City all nearby if anything is needed, or just enjoy the outstanding location. House was clean, well stocked, and comfortable, awoke one morning to find the trillium in photos had bloomed overnight . Our week long stay had excellent weather, even included the drama of watching an afternoon thunderstorm build over the lake as it approached from the west. Absolutely a wonderful stay in all respects.

Great property - perfect for our ski trip!
We had a great stay at the Surf Cottage this past week. The property is about 20 mins easy drive from Boyne Highlands. Everything at the house was exactly as described. House was very clean. We did bring extra towels and blankets and pillows just in case, but they did have a few extras in closets. We didn’t explore much outside the house, as we were up there primarily to go skiing at Boyne. We would definitely stay there again! 🎿

Awesome place!
We loved this place! Very clean. Kitchen nicely equipped. Beds comfy. Appreciated the 60 's theme. Thanks for being pet friendly. The highlight of this listing for us was the stairway and deck across the street. We used it for bird watching, star gazing, sunset viewing and gorgeous lake vistas. We loved the exercise going up and down the stairs and looking at the rocks on the beach below. Did some xc skiing at Pond Hill farms. We would definitely stay at this house again in the future. Thanks so much!

Beautiful location!
True ‘up North ‘ feel. Cottage was as advertised. Adequate beds, bedding, and towels. Kids enjoyed pool table and ping pong. Kitchen had all we needed. We had a side trip to Mackinaw Island. , it was not along drive. Beach is very rocky, but we still managed to get in and swim. Petoskey State Park is a 20 minute drive and is not rocky. Sitting on the sun deck halfway down the hillside was very relaxing . We enjoyed bike riding on the ‘Tunnel of Trees ‘ roadway, and exploring Petoskey, lovely homes to look at in Harbor Spring. We would have appreciated one more adult bedroom. All in all we had a great vacation and would stay there again.

Cozy Home with the BEST views of Lake Michigan
Our family (9 people and one small dog) spent a week at this beautiful home. We had a fantastic time. Across the street is access to the most amazing views of Lake Michigan. Roughly 200 steps down is a private beach to enjoy the water and waves. It feels like you are at the ocean. As is the case with nature, sometimes it was very rocky and somedays there was more sand. Water shoes would be very helpful. Halfway down is a great deck to enjoy your morning coffee or catch the sunset. The home itself is nicely decorated and well equipped. Plenty of sleeping options. Love that the couches are comfortable futons. The lower level basement is spacious and a great area for the teens to play pool and ping pong. The kitchen is large with plenty of prep space and seating. If you do not have physical limitations walking up and down many steps, this is the perfect place to experience the natural beauty of Lake Michigan.

Wonderful Views ~ Amazing Location!
We had a wonderful time during our stay and the colors in the tunnel of trees was beautiful. We had some minor issues when we arrived - no trash bag in the trash container in the kitchen and the trash bag box was empty. The toilet seat in the half bath was cracked and broken. I texted the issues with the host. The next day when we returned from a day out we found the toilet seat had been replaced, but the trash bags they left were for the small trash bins in the bathrooms - no big deal - we managed to snag a couple from a restaurant we ate at. We were a bit disappointed the deck hadn't been cleaned up - the table was dirty and their were leaves and ashes covering most of it - we never went out on it to enjoy the view. The house is spacious and the kitchen is large, but the interior is starting to show some age and living room furniture and downstairs furniture (futons) are not comfortable to sit on - exception is the large chaise in the upstairs LR. The bed upstairs and the main level are very hard and no one had a good night sleep the 3 nights we were there. The bunk beds were a bit better, but still not comfortable. The upstairs bathroom door won't stay open - it kept bumping me when I was at the vanity. The bathroom down stairs is large but there really isn't any space to put your toiletries. We couldn't get the stereo to work. No laundry soap was available. The pool sticks need tips. I do want to say the host was VERY nice and kept in contact with us.

Peaceful Retreat
This is a terrific spot for some R&R in northern MI. The house is super clean, with eclectic / MCM decor. Clearly more space than needed for two + a dog. Harbor Springs downtown is about a 20-minute drive. Great hiking trails abound -- but don't forget the orange if you're there during hunting season. The weather warmed up enough to enjoy the deck across the street. Be mindful, the stairs to the beach are a whopping 203 (75 to the deck). As well, enjoyed the nice fire pit out back. If you bring your furry friend, you might want to bring a long lead you can stake into the ground or around a tree so Spot can enjoy the outdoors! The only tip for owners would be a few more larger glass bowls (as we ate in most days) and a Smart TV. Summer we realize most are outside, but the snow flew and a couple evenings would've loved to watch a movie.

FYI
For future stays, some helpful info: - The downstairs bedroom is very small and no closet, only dresser - The downstairs bathroom is half bath only with door that opens inward and quite a tight space so not conducive for someone who has a disability - The house was clean but the finishings could use some updating for overall cleaner feel/look (carpets, bedding, drapery, decorations) - The beach is down several flights of stairs but has a nice overlooking deck midway for viewing sunsets - The beach is not for little ones, it is extremely rocky and there was no sand to be had in either direction. We could not bring little ones down to use as it was not safe and this was very disappointing. Recommend Good Hart beach a few miles down the road for close access and sand. - For safety, the house is situated close to 119, as the road separates the property from the beach access. We had to be mindful of toddler trying to escape onto area.

Nice Area
We stayed here for two weeks and had a few issues. We contacted the owner and they have fixed all of them. They are great! I took off one star since they had to be fixed after we arrived. They came and moved the rocks we had isssue with in the water. They replaced the shades and put in new curtains in the bedrooms. They also told the cleaning crew to come later on our behalf so we could sleep in. We stayed two weeks so they had to come in the middle. They made sure the lawn guys came later in the day as well. Wow, are they great owners. They even said they might think about putting in a king size bed in the master upstairs, since there is room, and getting new linens and blanklets for the beds. Check the vents in the upstairs, if they are not open it gets toasty. Also, fourth bedroom is an office on first floor, just so you know. The area is supreme. The house was spotless. The TV is very nice as was reception. Kitchen has lots of room and the house is nice and bright. We had a good time and wish all the owners in the big lake were this good.
