"Birthday gift for my husband. A weekend getaway. Loved staying right on the beach. The cottage was nice and cozy for just the 2 of us. We watched the sunrise. Loved eating breakfast at the local breakfast spot. Loved the area where everyone was so nice. I am from Virginia Beach so we are just a hop skip jump away. We are looking forward for our return.The host was great and always in communication. Highly recommend. It was a wonderful stay. "

"House was cleanly, lovely quiet neighborhood. Vrbo provided a number for any assistance we might have needed. They were very responsive and helpful. The house is as pictured it was beautiful and well maintained. There were stains on the carpet but that is to be expected when allowing pets😊 overall a great experience for my four children, our dog, my husband and myself. "

"This was our 5th year staying at OBX for Thanksgiving week and we just signed up for our 6th. Love the place! Each year brings surprises of upgrades that keep the property current and nice. The walk to the beach takes 2 minutes and the town of Duck is just down the street. Couldn't be better."

"Hovey House was GREAT. My family had not had a vacation in years and this week was perfect. We caught fish, kids done the educational tour of the Wright's Brothers Memorial and enjoyed the local go-carts. Host was very involved and professional. Will stay there again."

"Great property. Was as listed. Very clean and well equipped! We cooked a full Thanksgiving meal for a family of .8 and had every dish, pot, etc that was needed! There was even a Christmas tree ❤️. "This was an excellent find for a relaxed, one week getaway to the OBX for me and my medium-sized dog. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood very close to the sound so we had wonderful sunset walks along a multi-use path. It was very convenient to go to Jockey's Ridge State Park, Nags Head Woods, or the Wright Brothers Memorial for a few hours of adventure with the dog and then come back for a little downtime at the beach. "The stay was awful. The house was dirty and there were bugs and other things crawling in the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. I have pictures. I did not expect for the home to be that dirty. Furniture was broken. My son even hurt himself on the stairs. I would never return to this property."

"My friends and I stayed at the starfish retreat this past weekend. It was nice but we were not given any trash bags so we had to use food lion bags to throw our trash away. The hot tub was a bit dirty and we wish they had a few essential items that are normally needed when you stay at a beach house for a few days. The location was fine and close to the beach and the house was nicely decorated."
