The Sunken Cork - Water's Edge Getaway!

Relax and enjoy lake living at “The Sunken Cork” With three spacious bedrooms and two full bathrooms, this water's edge cottage provides exceptional comfort for eight guests. Enjoy the breathtaking lake views, and entertain friends and family on the expansive decks!

The main entry into the cottage leads to an open dining and living room. Large picturesque windows line the entire lake side and offer an exquisite view of Keuka Lake. Curl up on the couch and enjoy a good book while listening to the water lap against the shoreline!

Just off the dining area is a charming kitchen, fully equipped for all your cooking requirements. To the far side of the living room, you'll find the master bedroom with a 4 poster Queen Size bed. A full bathroom with shower, washer, and dryer is located in the hallway at the top of the stairs between the entry and lower level.

The fully finished basement features two additional bedrooms, each with a Queen Size bed that boast gorgeous lake views. Pull the curtains open in the morning and watch the sun dance on the water while you're still in bed. These bedrooms share access to a second full bathroom with sink, commode, and shower.

Sliding glass doors off these bedrooms lead you outside to the lower deck, where Adirondack chairs await your relaxation. Enjoy the day sunbathing on the dock, entertain at the outdoor kitchen/grill, or take out the kayak that is available for guests use.

“The Sunken Cork” is located just minutes away from the small town of Hammondsport, which is known for its small town charm, historic downtown shopping, great dining, and delicious ice cream. You can also start your Keuka Lake Wine Tour right here, just to see how many corks you can sink – your memories of a wonderful vacation on Keuka Lake will start right here!

There are 2 parking spaces just off the road, directly in front of the property. You must park parallel to the road in the 2 spaces. No boats or trailers permitted in the parking area.

Occupancy: This property is closely monitored for responsible renting. The maximum occupancy of each home is the number of guests allowed on the premises at any given time. This includes both day and overnight guests.

Note:
1. Smoking is not allowed in any rental property. This includes vaping and e-cigarettes.
2. Homes are not handicap accessible, unless stated in the description.
3. Air conditioning is not available unless listed as an amenity. If available, air conditioning is considered a seasonal amenity and is only available May 15 - October 15.

Memorial day weekend kick-off to summer!!
Gorgeous view!! 3 couples stayed comfortably in this lovely lake house!! Wineries were amazing and used a local company as our driver, Keuka Lake Limo! Great way to enjoy your Memorial day weekend!

Beautiful and Relaxing Stay
We booked this for a family birthday weekend and it was perfect. The location is amazing, right on the water, but also on a quiet street. The check in process was easy. The house was very clean. We had family over and they loved it. There is plenty of room for guests to visit. It’s so peaceful! We did not want to leave! Thank you for a wonderful birthday weekend!

Beautiful View with Mildew
Gorgeous setting, clean, and easy to find. Excellent location with wineries, local shops, and restaurants nearby. Unfortunately, we could not use the bottom floor. It had an overpowering mildew smell. The dampness in the lower level invited newts and spiders into the beds! The multiple fans and a dehumidifier was emptied 3 times in one night! I would stay with a smaller number of guests and not at that price.

Beautiful Area
Beautiful area and lake. Very quiet. House was very beat up, needs a lot of repairs. House was basically clean except for showers in bathrooms especially downstairs needs to be replaced. Very old and dirty with stains and mold that can’t be removed. Carpet is not pleasant. Screen door was broken in downstairs bedroom so it couldn’t be used. Outdoor area was large and beautiful but not maintained. I had to wipe all outdoor furniture down with cleaning spray as it was filthy. Outdoor grill area was not cleaned and all tile and grill was full of grease. Outdoor sink was full of leaves and dirt. Dock is black with dirt so if you went barefoot your feet turned black. With cost of this property it was very disappointing that at least at beginning of season everything outside was cleaned and power washed. The outside is probably 85% of why everyone rents this house so not understanding the neglect.

Great Location
The sunken cork is a wonderful getaway for any group! It was located near several wineries, distilleries, and breweries too. The deck and lake are wonderful. There are a decent amount of stairs to get to the property, so this could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems. The house is very comfortable and has just about everything you will need for a stay. The first floor bedroom and living room/kitchen are the only rooms with an AC unit, but the night breeze did help with the lower level bedrooms. Overall, we loved our stay.

THE SUNKEN CORK - - A GEM!!
My family and I stayed at The Sunken Cork 06/17-06/19 and had a wonderful visit!! I was a bit leery to rent "site unseen"' however, the write up and reviews were spectacular and certainly exceeded our expectations!! The floorplan, cleanliness, and just the lake view was spectacular. Just the little welcoming touches were spot-on. I will certainly stay here again as it definitely exceeded our expectations! Thank you to the owners for opening their home as it was a special time with my family by continuing our annual visits for the past 30 years and making lasting memories at Watkins Glen.

Fall Get away
Beautiful location Directly on the water. Plenty of space for our group of five adults. The kitchen was well stocked and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to have our coffee while looking out over the water with the fall foliage all around us! The one thing that I did notice that wasn’t mentioned was the amount of steps that you need to go up and down to get to the house from where you park. That should be noted in the review. The only other thing would be I can’t give it a five star for cleanliness. Although the kitchen and bathrooms were clean there were lots of spiders and dead bugs and cobwebs in the corners and around the floors behind the beds. Nothing that a good vacuuming in all those areas couldn’t take care of. Otherwise beautiful Location on the water and very comfortable home.

A wonderful spot!

Awesome time!
We loved our 4 day stay at the Sunken Cork! The dock is amazing and we enjoyed every evening hanging out to the serenity of the lake. The open area was awesome and so much deck room! The beds were fine ( from earlier remark) but we all brought our own pillows ( personal choice and covid..). The linens were vacuum sealed and we felt they took the extra measure. We were 6 adults, celebrating my kids both graduating college and had no celebration because of pandemic. We had a great time visiting Wineries, breweries and local shopping. My only negative was the limited cookware available but we made do . Would totally stay here again and the neighborhood was great for walking the dogs.

Water pressure is consistently not good. Bigger pressure tank and pump with higher setting. Vertical curtains just don't work with windows. Dog urine smell on arrival. Aired out smells ok. Need dehumidifier downstairs smells moldy Need better pillows for beds. Went out and purchased some will take home Boat lift needs new rear cable. Lift is not level in water These items are critical I know but I would definite recommend cottage

We, along, with our friends had a great time! The house is beautiful and very clean. The view was amazing! Our only suggestion of an improvement would be a new mattress or mattress topper. The beds are way to hard and uncomfortable. Other then that, we really enjoyed our stay and would come back again!

This is a very nice place, the view is beautiful-Lots of little issues, the bedroom blinds were either broken or jammed. No cold water in the upstairs bathroom shower, only warm-Outside grill very gross and dirty, we could not get it to work, called maintenance, but no one showed up. Main upstairs door sticks every time you open it, no curtains on any of the south windows, became very warm mid afternoon. No light over the sink, if you were to do dishes at night. The place has mice, left remains all over counter.
