Loon Lodge - The Lodges at Oak Point, 1000 Islands - Right on the River!

Loon Lodge is in the heart of Oak Point, one of the most family friendly and enjoyable communities in the Thousands Islands, located on a peaceful sandy-bottom bay.

Inside the lodge, the first floor has an open living/dining area, kitchen with full sized appliances, bathroom with full tub/shower, and two bedrooms. View the majestic St. Lawrence from the large 2nd floor sleeping loft or relax on the screened porch while playing a board game or enjoying a sunset dinner overlooking the bay.

The area is scenic and has many activities to explore. It's a popular fishing destination for pike, muskie, bass, and walleye. Day trips are easy to many US & Canadian attractions in Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Kingston or Brockville, including museums, castles, island parks, and restaurants. Buy local produce and baked goods at a nearby Amish farm, or golf at a nearby course. Cruise the 1000 islands, kayak to get close to nature, watch the ships plying the channel, or just sit and relax on our dock. Ask about our pontoon boat rental, dock space, free canoe/kayaks for guests, and town boat launch just steps away from the lodges. We look forward to your stay with us!

Oak Point Loon Lodge
A wonderful place to stay with family and friends. The only thing I would consider is a room fan for each bedroom as it was uncomfortably hot the first two nights. However there is a whole house fan that worked great. Lisa is very pleasant and a gracious hostess!

Great place for family vacation!
My family has been coming to Oak Point for thirty years now and have stayed at several different places over the years. The Lodges at Oak Point are my favorite! The bay is a great place for swimming and boating. The Lodges provide a paddle boat, kayaks, and a canoe for customer use. There is nice fire pit for campfires. The lodges are big enough for people to gather together and still have space to themselves if they want. The view from the cabins is beautiful. Roger and April are wonderful people and I look forward to seeing them every year. I can not say enough good things about this property and the people who manage it!

It doesn't get better than this...
We loved this place so much last year that we brought several other families with us this year and rented 4 cabins. The kids were in heaven, swimming every day in the crystal clear water with a beautiful sandy bottom. They loved going to Penny Candy night at the store and used the rock garden as a stage for their talent show performances. With fishing charters, castle tours, kayaking and swimming there was plenty to keep us busy. Lisa, the host, knows the area and made some great recommendations. She is nearby and is extremely attentive and accommodating. Great time was had by all!

Perfect for a Multi-Generation Gathering
We just spent a week at the Lodges at Oak Point for a family reunion. There were 26 of us - ages 3-87 - and everyone loved the location. We rented all 5 lodges. Although we did outings to Boldt Castle, Alexandria Bay, two wineries, and a golf course, everyone really seemed to enjoy just hanging around Oak Point. Many got up early to walk or jog. The river was perfect for swimming and we rented boats to fish, tube, and just cruise around exploring. The cottages were spacious and allowed us to congregate inside for games and conversation - and the porches and porch swings were a favorite place to hang out. We gathered at the picnic tables on the lawn in the evening for dinner and several nights made s 'mores in the fire pit by the river. We've been holding these reunions every other year since the early 70's and we really appreciated the well-stocked and organized lodges and the kindness of one of the owners, Lisa, who was always responsive and patiently answered a lot of questions. Thanks for a FANTASTIC week! I would highly recommend the Lodges at Oak Point!

Great Family Getaway
My wife and I brought our three kids up to the 1000 Islands for the first time. The lodges at Oak Point gave us a great experience. We had close proximity to all the towns in the area and the bay offered endless hours of entertainment. We fished, canoed, swam, barbecued and Star gazed without having to leave the property. It is truly a family experience. Lisa was amazing. She greeted us when we arrived and was always available if need (though we had no issues at all). She checked in halfway through the stay and thanked us as we left. We hope to return sometime.

Amazing
The waterfront, the cottage, the neighbors were all amazing. Lisa as the property owner made us feel like absolute family. Where can you go where someone has planted a garden for you to pick vegetables and eat fresh. We are already booked for next year.

perfect location back in a quiet cove
great spot, super nice cottage with everything you will need on vacation. cabinets even were stocked with various oils and spices to cook with thanks to past renters! lisa was very attentive to our needs, and keeps the grounds looking very nice, flower pots and gardens were a nice touch. we fished other areas than in the river around the cottage, ie eel bay, and black lake......next time we will try in the river as well. large screened in porch was a hit, great breeze each evening. can't wait to come again.

Loon Lodge
Lisa is wonderful. Very friendly & helpful. Only downfall was the conditions of the pots to cook in and lack of silverware. We managed because we can-others not so sure.

A great summer retreat for us.
We spent the months of July and August in Pike Cottage at Oak Point Lodges. We were attempting to escape the heat of our out of state year round home and enjoy the River. We had a great view of the little bay and the river traffic. There was nearly always a breeze from the bay. The screened in porch provided a great place to watch the river activities protected from the insects. And it was very relaxing. The sandy beach and easy access to our boat at the dock made the river experience nearly perfect. Our cottage was newly built and designed to take advantage of the breezes and was very convenient. The kitchen was well stocked with microwave, dishwasher, and lots of pots and pans. It was very clean and well maintained. The community at Oak Point was friendly and we made lots of friends in the area. The owners Lisa and Stephen went out of their way to address any needs that we had. We needed to have the internet working reliably and they worked with us immediately upon our arrival to make sure that it worked for us. It bears emphasis that the Lisa and Stephen were there, locally, and went out of their way to make the cottage work for us. The proximity to the town dock was also a plus for us. We could hear the happy sounds of children playing in the water and that is a great summer sound. The cottage was convenient for our family visitors and our granddaughter found ready playmates for her two weeks there. As seasonal renters we enjoyed meeting lots of different people who rented from the other cottages at the Lodges. Lisa made sure that we were aware of the local events and we could participate as much or as little as we wanted. It was nice to be part of a community with such a sense of history. It was everything we wanted it to be. There are lots of activities nearby so if you wanted more to do than use the river for boating, fishing and swimming, you could go golfing, horse back riding, visit the castles nearby on the islands, and attend lots of arts and craft events. All in all it was a wonderful place to spend the summer and we would stay there again. We would encourage vacationers who are looking for a month or a whole summer to give The Lodges a good close look. We highly recommend it.

Great spot on the St. Lawrence
For the last 50 years, we have been staying in the 100-year-old cottages that were the original Oak Point Trading Post. The new owners, Lisa and Steve, have replaced those with new and very upscale ‘lodges’. The kitchens are modern and well stocked, it is all wood inside with cathedral ceilings, great beds, optional linens and they have screened porches!!. It is almost impossible to find new or high-end cottages on the river. So this is a treat. We had a family reunion (26 of us) there this summer and it was the perfect facility for us. All the cabins open out to a common lawn for all the festivities. Oak Point bay is the only place I know of on the river that has a sandy bottom for swimming. And it is only a couple feet deep off the docks. Fishing is good all year and boat rentals are available nearby. Mink run along the shores looking for fish, beavers swim in the bay, great-horned owls and osprey nest nearby, turtles sun on rocks everywhere, birding is exceptional – pretty much a natural paradise. Ocean liners travel the river, sunsets are like Key West and Alexandria Bay is a famous place for summer activities including an island castle tour. The lodges at Oak Point are awesome. I give it 5 stars plus. We will be back.

Great time had by all!
We stayed in the Heron Cabin. Friends and family had rented the surrounding cabins. All the families had a blast. The kids (ranging from age of 3-13) loved the dock and swimming in the river. Touring the Thousand Islands by boat was also a favorite. We travelled from Arizona and definitely thought it was worth the trip.

Wonderful Week!
Just got back from a wonderful week at Oak Point! We (self, husband, two 14 yr old boys) stayed in Muskie Lodge and it was spacious, comfortable, clean, and well maintained, just as advertised. This was my first time renting a home off the internet and I found the process to be easy and safe. I had been worried about mosquitoes but there was usually a breeze off the water that kept them away. Lisa (owner) was available nearby if needed. We brought our canoe (they have one, too) and paddled around the little bay and we also rented a power boat for two days of getting further out in the river and fishing. We're not fishermen, but after some tips from our new neighbors, we caught enough bass for two dinners. We also took Uncle Sam boat tour around the islands and visited Boldt castle, well worth the price. We made a fire in the fire pit and roasted marshmallows most nights, and went to a drive-in movie one night. Also spent lazy times reading on the porch, splashing in the water, and watching the wildlife. A great combination of relaxing for the adults and fun for the teens.

Loon Lodge on the St. Lawrence River
What a wonderful experience! Lisa, the owner, is most accommodating and the facilities at Loon Lodge are as advertised: new, clean, and comfortable! The location of Loon catches a nice steady breeze from the river. Outside grilles are available (you bring the charcoal). There is a dock right in front of Loon to dock your boat and swimming with a soft, sandy bottom that goes several hundred feet out making it appropriate for supervised children. We found the community of Oak Point to be very friendly and a great place to relax for newcomers like us. About 15 miles South is Alexandria Bay with lots of shops, places to eat and tours (Uncle Sam's Boat Tours) that take you throughout the scenic1000 Islands. Also, world renowned artist Michael Ringer's gallery is in the town of Alex Bay. North about 11 miles in Ogdensburg< NY where you can cross into Canada (bring your passport) as well as good grocery shopping, restaurants and (home town hero) the Frederic Remington Museum with many original paintings, bronzes and a complete history of where he grew up. We have and will continue to recommend the Lodges at Oak Point to our family and friends. Again, if you want a relaxing and enjoyable time give the Lodges at Oak Point strong consideration. PS: Finally, if you MUST be connected electronically...the Lodges at Oak Point provide WI-Fi if needed. If you don’t need the internet connection guess what...you'll relax even more! Enjoy!

Exactly what we were looking for!
My family and I just got back from our stay at Loon Lodge and we could not be happier about our trip. We were one married couple, three children (ages 14,12 and 9) and my mother. And there was plenty of room for more! The lodge is spacious and clean. The weather was perfect. Cool mornings and evenings, warm days, low humidity. We slept with the windows open, it felt like we were living outdoors. The kids enjoyed swimming in the water that was so clear you could see to the sandy bottom. The yard was perfect for sun bathing, playing catch and grilling out. Neighbors are friendly but not intrusive. Very quiet area, I did a lot of reading on the dock and on the screened porch. We are very happy about our choice.

Fun at Oak Point
My wife and I, our college student daughter, 2 of her friends and my in-laws spent the second week of July in the new Loon Lodge at Oak Point. The weather was great, the water warm and crystal clear and the lodge was spacious and comfortable, even for the 7 of us. We brought our boat with us and cruised the river, went tubing and waterskiing....and even boated across to Brockville in Canada a couple of times for lunch and shopping. The sun came up early each day and it stayed light until almost 9:30 pm, so we had long fun days outdoors. Cooked outside on the grill some nights, breakfast on the porch. In the cove we saw Ospreys, herons, loons, cormorants, a family of minks and lots of fish. Great place to vacation......so much different from our Boston area. We will definitely be back.
