The hotel itself was fantastic. We loved the theming and it made the room feel really clean, relaxing and special. We had two double beds and shared as a group of three friends. The bathroom and shower were great, with a massive mirror on the window. The inset lighting around the planet paintings and Moon ceiling lighting were great. The room also had good storage and lots of electrical points which makes such a difference when a group all needs to charge their phones.
The staff at check in were efficient and the process took only a few minutes. Check out was also easy.
The location has good and bad points. It’s a short walk from the main train station down a straight main road. The road has lots of Middle Eastern eateries and cafes/bars, plus late night supermarkets. It was close to the lots of LGBT scene in St Georg too.
The trouble with that was the noise… we just didn’t sleep. Police raided the area immediately below us each night with sirens as it’s where a lot of undesirables seem to congregate near a public toilet block. There was usually someone unconscious on the pavement during day and night. We didn’t feel unsafe but we were a mixed group… a lone traveller would likely feel different.
Check in time is also worth mentioning… there is absolutely no leeway on the 10pm curfew. We thought we had planned in 4 hours of time for trains to be late but it wasn’t. We called ahead and had to stay elsewhere night 1… but even then our booking was almost cancelled.
