The Space:
With premium furniture, high ceilings and colourful soft furnishings, Fountains Cottage has beautiful interiors throughout. Guests have access to the full cottage so you can unwind in front of the TV in the living room and socialise with your loved ones at the dining area during your stay.
The cottage also has a fully equipped kitchen which includes an oven, ceramic hob, larder fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. There is also a small freezer located above the washing machine in the outside store.
The property benefits from two stylish double bedrooms on the first floor. Both rooms boast luxury mattresses, bedding and linens to ensure the best night's sleep possible. The spaces are complete with a dressing table and storage.
The family bathroom is located on the ground floor and includes a walk in shower, WC and basin.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is public parking close to the property. Charges apply between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
Please note the stairs are steep with narrow treads so children and infants should be supervised at all times when using the staircase.
The Neighborhood:
The market town of Guisborough is located on the edge of North York Moors National Park so you have plenty of walking and mountain bike routes to explore. In the centre of the town, you’ll find a charming, cobbled high street which is lined with shops, cafes and pubs. Visit the English Heritage site of Gisborough Priory which dates back to the 12th century. Here you’ll find the dramatic skeleton of the 14th century church's east and outstanding Gothic architecture.
Less than 10 minutes away by car you’ll reach Great Ayton. This idyllic village is perched on the banks of the River Leven and was once known for its industries in linen making, tanning, brewing and mining. Today it is a quaint and pretty place to visit. Enjoy an afternoon stroll and enjoy an ice-cream from Suggits, the traditional sweet shop which is a firm favourite with the locals.
Head to the coast and enjoy the beautiful beaches of Saltburn, Whitby and the quaint coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood's Bay.
You are also ideally placed to enjoy the North York Moors Steam Railway which can be accessed at Grosmont or Pickering.
Getting Around:
Fountains Cottage is within fifteen minutes drive of Saltburn, Great Ayton and Stokesley. Coastal towns and villages like Whitby, Sandsend and Staithes can be reached within 30 minutes by car.
Middlesbrough train station is a 20-minute drive from the cottage where you'll find connecting trains to Darlington, Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester and London. If you're travelling between the cottage and the train station via bus, it's roughly a 30-minute journey depending on the route. Please note Middlesbrough bus staton is a 10 minute walk from the railway station.
The nearest bus stops are just a short 2 minute walk from the cottage - simply ask for 'Guisborough Market Place'. Hop on the Arriva X93 which travels from Middlesbrough through to Scarborough, with stops in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay along the way. Join the M3 bus route to explore the Moors with stops in Danby, Hutton Le Hole, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley. We recommend checking all bus routes using the boards at the stop.
