This 7.5 acre estate is located just 24 miles from Yosemite National Park in Coulterville, CA which Reader’s Digest rated in 2022 as the “Nicest place in America.”
You have exclusive access and total privacy to all three structures set amidst mature landscaping and natural beauty with all of the amenities to provide fun and entertainment for guests of any age.
The retreat offers indoor beds for up to 20 guests (we charge an additional $50/per person/night for more than 16 guests). These rates are calculated at the time of booking but please note that if you add additional guests, additional fees may apply. There are also several "Camping" sites available May through October.* Expand capacity further with parking for up to 3 RV's.* Maximum occupancy for events and expanded stay options is 50 people. Bring along your furry friend! We welcome up to two dogs.

Geographic location: Yosemite National Park is 24 mi away to the East (about a 30 min drive). Groveland is a 20 min drive North and offers a quaint Sierra town with cute shops, restaurants, and the Iron Door Saloon (the oldest bar in California). Downtown Coulterville is a 15 min drive West.

Here is the breakdown for this property:
-The Cedar Lodge sleeps 12. This includes a master bedroom with a king bed, a twin sleeper sofa, and a twin sleeper chair. There is also a large bedroom/loft with a queen bed, a twin day bed with trundle, and another twin sleeper sofa. There is no proper door on this room, but it is very private. it is across a stairwell and far removed from the master bedroom, which does have its own door. We also provide a privacy screen for our guests. The pub is essentially another room with a door to close it off from the main living area. It has a queen Murphy bed and slider door to close off the space and make it private.
-The Quail Cabin sleeps 4. This includes a proper bedroom with a queen bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the main living space.
- The Stone Cottage sleeps 4. This is a separate structure next to the cabin that has one room with a queen Murphy bed and another room with a double sleeper sofa. The two rooms are connected by a sliding door to close off for privacy.
*Sleeping accommodations for the Stone Cottage are only available to parties who book the entire Quail Retreat Property.
- We also have one covered RV parking space with electric and water hookups. There are other locations on property to park an RV that do not have hookups.
- There is also plenty of room for tent camping. There is an outdoor shower, sink and toilet for anyone choosing to go this route.

Wake to the sunrise over Clark Mountain Range from Quail Crossing in a gorgeous custom 3023 sf Redwood and stone home built in 2009, beautifully situated and professionally maintained in a stunning location. Spoil additional family members in the private Quail Cabin, covered RV site, and Stone Cottage Game Room and sleeping quarter. Guests appreciate striking the perfect balance between family group togetherness paired with the respectable distance needed to enjoy autonomy and privacy.
Guests visit the area for Yosemite, but stay for the shared on-site activities, such as:

At Quail Crossing, meadow lands and farmlands of the valley are framed by forests of Ponderosa pines and black oak. Guests won't see neighbors--unless they are transported by wings or four legs. Wildlife abounds.
Cell phone reception is limited at the property and surrounding areas offering its guests the opportunity to truly escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Please plan to use our satellite WIFI for placing cell phone calls and accessing the internet. Inclement weather such as snow and rain can affect internet access. The property is self-sufficient with gas generators programmed to automatically power the home when outside power is cut-off.
Outdoor activities abound in and around Quail Crossing at Yosemite.
The property faces a lovely country road and pastures which are a delight to walk or bike down as you encounter flocks of wild turkey, cattle, deer, bobcats, and foxes. Care to go for a hike? Head out and explore the Stanislaus National Forest which abuts the East side of the property.
The Cedar Lodge reigns as Quail Crossing's sovereign. The stone-encased and inset entry beckons guests beneath a wisteria-draped pergola. The entry opens into a bright living room tastefully appointed, but even more importantly, comfortable. Local Yosemite art and artifacts adorn the walls, as does a big screen television. The ginormous and comfy sofa provides the perfect spot to cuddle with those you love most and get cozy after a long day.
To the immediate left is an extended entertaining pub with wet bar, built-in cabinets, extended bar counter, and bright windows and patio door that overlooks the backyard area. Watch the game, play darts, enjoy a beverage and find a reason to let go in the privacy of your own bar. When ready to retire for the evening, close the bar down and drop the murphy bed; the room converts to a perfectly comfortable private bedroom.
A gorgeous and substantial kitchen with recessed lighting, bright windows, knotty alder cabinets with ribbed glass, built-in wall size pantry cabinets and storage, soap stone leather finish counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and gas stove top burners pamper the family chef. Go ahead and prepare that amazing meal; the kitchen is stocked with all the amenities and tools necessary for epic entertaining. The open and inviting kitchen floor plan is the heart of this home, drawing all with its promise of conversation, warmth, hugs, and love.
The kitchen is adjoined on one side with a magnificent and spacious dining area. A commanding table robustly seats 10 to 14 comfortably. A warm reading nook occupies one corner of this great room. Exterior french doors lead from the dining area to an outdoor patio with slate stone and metal gated railing featuring the outdoor granite dining table and a gas burning grill.
To the left of the kitchen rests an intimate breakfast nook, ideal for quiet mornings, warm beverages, and yummy breakfasts. This is where guests start amazing days. As the day warms, the family gathers in the chairs of the breakfast table, center island, dining table, and reading nook--cementing the kitchen as the nucleus of both the family and the home.
The kitchen side door leads directly to the portico, a covered outdoor living room. Outdoor speakers, inset lighting, ceiling fan and fireplace regulate the harshest elements of mother nature ensuring guests a cozy outdoor experience. An outward path through the herbal and floral garden invites guests to the hot tub and custom fire pit. Campfire stories are told here. This is outdoor living at its finest.
The guest bathroom is accessed on the main level off the kitchen offering a glass shower, tile flooring, and private water closet.
The upper level of the main house contains the master bedroom, super-sized loft, and laundry room.
The master bedroom and en-suite bath comprise half the upper level complete with picturesque windows and tunnel skylights letting in wonderful natural light. Sequestered guests indulge in the granite-topped, large jacuzzi tub, dressing table, glass and tile shower and the limitless built in custom cabinetry and drawers. Unwind in the cozy sitting area with television, gas fireplace stove, and a private covered balcony with slate stone, metal railings and overhead fan. The over-sized walk-in closet with shelving and tunnel skylight is almost a room in its own right.
The laundry room with folding counter, sink basin, bright windows, and efficient storage cabinets. is especially useful to guests of longer stays.
Throughout each living area and bedrooms are Daikin mini-split heat and A/C efficient units with individual control settings.
One of the shop areas is a tractor shed/by the covered RV parking and another 960 sf shop with covered porch area utilized now as a hobby/woodwork shop.
The Quail Cabin is a 720 sf redwood and stone cabin has a great-room living area with vaulted open beam ceiling. It has hardwood flooring throughout, knotty wood cabinets, stone hearth gas fireplace in great room, one bedroom and full bath featuring built in cabinets, large soaking tub and an overhead shower. Indoor/outdoor speakers allow guests to seamlessly move from the great room to the covered deck porch overlooking the mini three-hole putting green with views of forests and mountains beyond.
A barbeque grill is provided to compliment the indoor/outdoor mountain lifestyle.
The dining room and covered spacious deck patio provide commanding views of the picturesque, glacier-carved meadows of Wagoner Valley and Ridge at the foot of Quail Crossing.
Revel in the abundant wildlife that share this property and call it home. Watch the namesake quail scurry to and fro. Listen to the coyotes voices bounce and echo off Wagoner Ridge. Lucky guests might spy the resident bobcat sunning herself in the meadow below. Deer and rabbit abound. Watch and listen to the wild turkeys roosting in nearby trees as the sun sets. Ever hear a wild turkey taking flight, their wings beating the air, striking ponderosa pines fifty feet above the forest floor? It sounds like a helicopter.
When darkness gathers, oh how the stars do shine. Yes, that is the Milky Way.
