Nolichucky's Retreat

A true escape on the river with awesome views of the mountains and total silence.... it’s a true cabin feel and awesome experience.

The water sports are amazing, the silence and access to the mountains second to none.

We sleep four and have camping for more. If you like river life this is perfect.

We have fast internet and WIFI and with a smart TV everything is available such as Netflix etc. we have all the normal safety and security systems including smoke alarms, carbon monoxide and external cameras.

Super cute house and location.
We loved the size and location of the place. It was just what we needed for a few nights stay while helping with supply runs after Hurricane Helene. We didn’t get to spend much time enjoying the outdoor area or kitchen as we were gone working. There was plenty of room to park and turn around our 30 foot trailer. My only complaint is that their was a lock on the thermostat and it was quite warm sleeping upstairs as there was no way to close off the heat vents or turn the temperature down . Overall a good stay for my husband and I. Price was fair and location was very private.

This place offers breathtaking views. However, the host has cameras everywhere outside the home, and he actively is watching (felt like 1984).

Great sunsets and porch sittin'
Download Merlin (bird app), grab a cup of coffee or cold beverage and let relaxation wash over you! Great location south of the Nolichucky river, but easy drive to Greeneville or to the best hiking in the world! Cabin is as described with the bathroom on the lower level and beds upstairs. Only slight negative were a few dust bunny's on the second bedroom.

Don't let the outside appearance put you off, it is very cozy inside and the view is pretty. We would definitely stay here again. It was also very clean which is important to us.

Best tree swing in the whole world. Gorgeous view. Could sit on that porch and enjoy myself for weeks on end. But alas we had a return back to the real world.

Perfect quiet retreat

Stunning River View!
Everything about this place is amazing. The cabin is situated on a hill with views of the river out one side and the Smokies out the other. Situated between Greeneville and the National Forest, you enjoy open spaces while conveniently close to amenities. The owners are very friendly and available if needed. Definitely plan on staying here again.

Perfect for our family
Beautiful spot overlooking the river. Originally from Greeneville so this was a perfectly centralized spot for family and friends to visit. Fire pit and multi level deck made it easy for hanging out. Kiddos took the path down to the river to fish and loved the tree swing. Plenty of room for the kiddos to run around. The cabin had all necessities and host was very responsive. Highly recommend.

Slice of heaven Of the Nolichucky River. The retreat had all the amenities anyone could need
Ralph Met us and gave us a tour and the lay of the land. We stayed here because of its close proximity to Tusculum University. We were moving our daughter in for her sophomore year of college. A beautiful view of the Nolichucky River. The retreat had all the amenities anyone could need. We will definitely be back.

Peaceful
Ralph and Dana are superb hosts. We brought our 2 dogs and had zero issues. Ralph brought us inner tubes and we floated down the river with ease. Firewood is supplied. Did some fishing. Kitchen extraordinarily well stocked, and we cooked some great meals. Nice and quiet!

A Piece of Paradise
The Nolichucky Retreat was a fantastic getaway. If you want to stay there your entire stay, you have all the amenities so you never have to leave. Stove, oven, cooking ware, gas grill, access to the river, tubes, trails, fire pit, and the list continues. If you want to leave, all within a short drive is Viking Mountain, the city of Greeneville, Jonesborough (the Storytelling Capital of the World), Asheville N.C., and more. Something unique about our stay was getting to know the owners of the property. They are kind and accommodating. They have an appreciation for history and have a few unique projects of their own they are working on which sparked conversation and us visiting those properties. Some of our favorite memories of the trip are our time visiting with them! The pictures listed are very accurate. My favorite spot was the swing. If you have a chance to stay here, make sure you do. We look forward to coming back!

Quiet & Close to Lots of Hiking
We really enjoyed our stay at the Nolichucky Retreat. It was so peaceful. The view of the river below the deck was amazing and each afternoon we watched a heron on the beach. The accommodations are exactly as they are described. Ralph met us and gave us a quick tour of the property, info on local attractions, and an overview of the place. He also checked in via text after our first night to make sure everything went well. He was kind and welcoming and we enjoyed our conversation. The rental itself was stocked with everything from coffee to snacks (popcorn and peanuts) and all the towels we needed for what ended up being a rainy and muddy (but still enjoyable) visit. It was incredibly quiet other than the occasional boat on the water. We'd love to go again to get in some star gazing when it isn't so cloudy. It was an easy drive to get to Viking Mountain (if you don't mind winding roads and have a good eye for boulders and potholes). The view from the top was phenomenal. We caught the colors of autumn and amazing views on the drive as well as at the top. Finally, there were LOTS of trails for hiking. Our puppy Lily especially enjoyed that. Which reminds me... There was even a dog cover for the couch provided. It really was a great experience for all of us. The only caveat I would offer is that there are some neighbors nearby on one side. There is a good fence and they have signage posted informing neighbors that they do shoot guns recreationally. There is also a confederate flag on the property. That said, we didn't see them and other than their dog barking (in a "come play with me" not an "I'm going to GET you" kind of way), we didn't have any interaction with them. Still, some guests might like to have that information in advance. Ralph could not have been more friendly or kind. The space could not have been better suited for us. Finally, the area was beautiful and so quiet. Thanks for a great extended weekend, Ralph.
