"This house was perfect for a weekend getaway. Location-wise we had easy access to hiking trails nearby and Gettysburg. House was super clean and had a great layout for just hanging around. Private, wooded lot felt secluded. We enjoyed the fireplace, large kitchen and the hot tub after a long winter hike. The game room in the garage was perfect for some evening relaxation. The hosts were quick with communication and easy to work with. I would definitely return in the future."

"Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Potomac River Retreat. From visiting Harpers Ferry, playing the slots at Charles Town Casino, to taking the self-guided tour of Antietam National Battlefield Park, hiking the Maryland Heights Trail via Harpers Ferry, and walking the C&O Canal tow path. To eating at Captain Benders and getting sandwiches and snacks at Battleview Market. And simply enjoying the fire pit. Thank you for the great experiences"

"This is a terrific place in an ideal location. It's within walking distance of great eateries, historical sites, and has, in fact, an interesting history itself. The furniture is comfortable, the place is cozy, and we loved the fenced-in backyard. It couldnt have been more perfect for us and our four-legged friends. "

"The house was as described, was clean, and the beds were comfy. We were disappointed to arrive on our bikes and find just one bottle of water, two coffee pods, and no plain coffee cream. There were three people on the rez. If catering to cyclists, water, coffee, and plain cream are always appreciated. Otherwise, a great stay. "

"Our group of four adults was looking for a rental house in Chambersburg for just two nights, preferably near the Gearhouse Brewing Company. Heidi’s place was perfect! The place was exactly as described, very comfortable and within easy walking distance to the brewery. And the house was spotless! I would highly recommend staying there."

"We stayed for two nights while introducing our kids to skiing at nearby Liberty resort. We were fortunate to get 6inches of beautiful snow while we were there, and enjoyed tremendously watching it blanket the trees around us Eileen was very helpful and ensured we had snow shovels and salt! "My wife really wanted a getaway that wasn’t too far from home. This house fit the bill and then some. The historic features are all beautiful and the home is well appointed and maintained. Our only regret was not being able to see the beautiful grounds in full bloom because it was winter! That said, the lack of foliage provided an even better view of the river from the porch.For those interested in the area for historical reasons it would make a great home base for exploring Antietam, but those...

"It was such a treat to stay in this unique old house. The basement is built right into the rock hill! The house is comfortable and convenient even though it has seen so many years. The hosts did a great job decorating and taking care of it. We would love to come back on a warmer weekend and enjoy the yard. "

"I love the attention to detail. I have a neck injury so one of the days I just slept and rested and it was magical. I appreciate how clean everything was. "Super easy to find, very secluded and private. Beautiful location with amazing views, very pretty in the snow. Cabin was super warm and cozy with everything that we needed. The porch was the best part of the cabin, with lights for night time! Very close to the town of Hancock which had great restaurants and a super market and gas station close by. About 30 minutes to Whitetail ski resort which was awesome! "
