Property Not cleaned on arrival and leak/unusable shower. Ruined holiday
from arrival all seemed okay, I went upstairs and found that linen had not been changed on beds, and I was a dismayed, then discovered that the whole property had not been cleaned. We had been travelling in 3 seperate cars (2 families coming from different areas of the country) for nearly 4 hours and it was 4pm. I contacted the booking agent Norfolk Holiday properties and was told a cleaner would be there asap. We left to go eat at 5.30pm and a cleaner had not arrived by then. No-one contacted me, I rang them back at 6.45pm and was told that unfortunately a cleaner was not coming, and the choices were we could clean ourselves (!!) or vacate (!!!!). Given the fact that I have fibromyalgia and was with my mum and aunt who are in their 70's and also we were there for a holiday after the passing of my father and to visit my sister who was also in the area for her 50th Birthday, vacating was not an option (I could not physically drive home another 4 hours) - so we cleaned - this unfortunately uncovered how unhygienic the property was. The cleaners had only been surface cleaning the property and it was unhygienic so i had to spend over an hour cleaning the bathroom, hairs out of plugholes and a very very dirty toilet. absolutely disgusting and not what we needed. Mum and aunt stripping and changing beds at 8pm at night after travelling. this sent me in to relapse so my holiday was ruined. Then we had a leak in the shower the next day (which was known to the host), this could not be fixed, and we were told not to use the overhead shower, and only use the handheld one, or vacate (!!!). We did get our first night's meal paid for, and 3 night's stay refunded - but this was at a massive push from me - but our holiday and stay was ruined and I did not feel comfortable in the property and we ate out every night as I did not feel that the sanitariness of the kitchenware could be vouched for and I was not about to clean the whole kitchen. Not impressed, and although NHP did communicate and try to fix things, it was a huge effort to get them to communicate with me and to get them to admit that things were wrong or that this was unacceptable. they refused to refund the full amount of our stay. The property on the surface looked great, but deeper down was not fit to be rented out and needed a deep clean and maintenance. The advertising pictures were very misleading. I am sure the property was rented out straight after us too.
